Multi-terrain Defence Armoured Vehicle, TATRA, will be fitted with Sahyadri Industry Developed Product
Under Atmanirbhar program, Sahyadri In-house Industry, Caliper secured a Development Order for a highly complex manufactured product "Crank". Being imported till now, without any technological assistance, Sahyadri and Caliper are going to develop this very critical product right under Industry-academia collaboration. Almost all the Engineering depts are involved in developing this product, which has metallurgical challenges, manufacturing special purpose machines for manufacturing & testing.
This is a multi-crore product bringing several crores of rupees’ saving to India through the indigenisation process. The product will be fitted in multi-terrain Defence armoured vehicle, TATRA, in which Bofors Guns and Radar Systems will be fitted for frontline border security areas.
Students of Sahyadri will get new frontiers of LIVE learning, post Covid sessions.
Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt Ltd is an In-house start-up Company in Sahyadri manufacturing precision products for Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Defence, Space and Railways sectors.

Sahyadri Management Students’ Association (SMSA) of the Dept. of Business Administration-MBA organized an Online ‘InQuizit 2K20’ during 14th to 16th Aug’2020. Participants from various parts of Karnataka and other neighbouring states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu were a part of this Virtual Quiz. Around 1,245 people took part in this quiz.
‘InQuizit 2K20’ is an intriguing and a totally student driven Online Quiz Competition event which was supported by Dr. Azhar Shaheen Shaikh, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Business Administration-MBA.
Through this Quiz the students were able to demonstrate Team Work and hone their event management skills.
Director-MBA invited as Resource Person at the National level Webinar organized by Besant College, Mangaluru
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director, Dept. of Business Administration-MBA was invited as Resource Person at the National Webinar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in the Future Scenario’ orgasnied by Besant college, Mangaluru.
Dr. Vishal addressed around 170 participants on the topic 'Startup Opportunities in the Current Eco System' through the Zoom platform. She narrated live examples and success stories from her own campus as to how students come up with an idea and are handheld by mentors from the New Age Incubation Network setup system which is operating within the campus.
Dr. Vishal called upon the youngsters to consider every idea - no matter how frivolous - as an opportunity, be passionate and take up the idea with a right mindset. Nothing comes easy in life. She narrated several incidents to showcase the passion which youngsters had and how they have become successful with timely guidance by the mentors.
The session ended with lot of questions which was very encouraging and shows the interest of the present generation towards startups.
Dept. of Mechanical Engineering conducts PAC Meeting
The Programme Assessment Committee (PAC) Meeting of the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering was conducted on 14th Aug’2020. Dr. Ravichandra, Dean-IC & Head, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering presented the observations given by the NBA Expert Committee and briefed the committee on action plans needed to be taken.
Dr. Ravichandra also apprised about the progress of 2019-20 Odd Semester highlighting student performance through result analysis, MOOC courses, placements, entrepreneurial activities, faculty performance through research and publications. The activities planned for the next academic year were also discussed with major focus on the progress with regards to autonomy.
Dr. Rajesha S., Principal gave valuable suggestions related to effective implementation of Teaching, Learning Process and also appreciated the dept. for achieving high scores during NBA team visit.
Dr. Nalini Rebello, Dean-Academics, gave a perception on effective attainment analysis and motivated the dept. to organize more activities like webinars that would give more exposure to the students about the relevant industry practices. The faculty, who were present, gave their inputs to enhance the overall OBE implementation in the dept.
