Day-Three of Five Days Online FDP on “Research Challenges and Trends in Information Technology”

Day-Three of the FDP had two sessions:
Session-1
This session was facilitated by Dr. Sumith N., Asst. Professor, Senior Scale, Dept. of ICT, MIT-Manipal. She has a work and research experience of 14 years. Her areas of interest are Algorithms, Data analytics, Social Networks, Remote Sensing Data, and Cyber Physical System.
The Agenda was focused on Deep Learning Technologies for Healthcare.
Highlights of the Session:
• Importance of Healthcare in Research areas in order to prevent and treat diseases
• Introduction & History of Deep Learning
• Deep Learning use cases: Gaming, Image Recognition, Speech Processing, Healthcare
• Deep Learning in Healthcare: Imaging Analytics & Diagnostics, Natural Language Processing, Drug Discovery & Precision Medicine, Clinical Decision Support & Predictive analytics, Alzheimer’s Disease & Genetics
Session-2
This session was facilitated by Dr. Shreyas Rao, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering at Sahyadri. Dr. Shreyas has 16+ years of experience in IT, Teaching, and Research domains. His research interests include Semantic Web, linked open data, crowd sourcing, knowledge engineering, and web services.
The Agenda was focused on Research trends and future of Semantics web.
Highlights of the Session:
• Evolution of Web
• Introduction, Structure, popular upper Ontologies, Domain-specific Ontologies of Semantic web
• Semantic Web applications: Linked Open Data (LOD) Cloud, DBPedia, Semantic Scholar
• Tools used & survey of research on Semantic web
• Research areas in Semantic Web: Knowledge representation reasoning & processing, Matching aligning & mapping vocabularies, Data management & challenges of Bigdata, Semantics in ensuring security, trust & privacy
• Research trends & opportunities: Changes in schema & data format, Semantic Web of Thing(SWOT), Semantic Search Engines, Semantic Interlinking / working on algorithms for pattern matching, End to End Semantic applications

Wipro TalentNext 2020

Wipro collaborates with Sahyadri to redefine the learning paths. The TalentNext initiative is an enablement to train the faculty and the students and make them industry ready. The workshop is activity-based and focuses on hands-on modules and technological know-how in the current context of Digital disruption. Workshop timing on all days except last 2 days will be 9 am to 1pm followed by assignments which the professors can complete before the next day’s session as per their convenience. Last 2 days will be from 9 am to 5 pm covering Python.
Sahyadri has nominated three faculty viz. Mr. Ganaraj K. from Information Science & Engineering, Ms. Suketha and Ms. Vanishree B. S. from Computer Science & Engineering for the TalentNext WCF workshop.
• The nominated professors will undergo preliminary general programing test using JAVA/Python/C#/C++.
• Professors securing 50% marks will be considered for this WCF workshop.
• Selected professors will go through self-learning on the assigned topics on PBLApp for a week.
