Faculty Member Presents Research Paper in International Symposium

A research paper titled `A Low Power 8-bit Asynchronous SAR ADC Design Using Charge Scaling DAC’ by Mr. Anush Bekal et.al, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Research Scholar at Indian Institute of information Technology (IIIT-A) was presented in the International Symposium on Electronic System Design held at NITK, Surathkal. Mr. Anush Bekal interacted with international pioneers in the semiconductor area. He had the privilege of meeting (from L to R in the photo), Prof. Masahiro Fujita, University of Tokyo, Japan and Shunpie Yamazaki, Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd., Japan, Prof. M. S. Bhat, NITK, Surathkal, Organizing Co-Chair, Prof. S. Mohan, Center for Nanoscience and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, Prof. Hafizur Rahaman, IIEST, Shibpur, Program Co-Chair and Dr. Zoran Stamenkovie, IHP, GmbH, Frankfurt(order), Germany.

The objective of the International Symposium on Electronic System Design (ISED) was to provide a congenial yet serious platform in which experts from academia and industry can interact with young researchers entering the fields of Electronics, Computer Science, Communication and allied engineering areas. Developments in this domain will have a large role to play in developing technologies for the future that have to be user-friendly in addition to being eco-sensitive and energy efficient. It is hoped that interactions between experts and novices as well as research groups facilitated by this conference will make concrete contributions to advancing the state of art.

Sahyadri P. U. College: “Talents Day and PTA Meeting” Held in the Campus

“Talents Day and PTA Meeting” of Sahyadri P. U. College was held in the Campus. Mrs. Mona Mendonca, English Faculty, Carmel College, Modankap, Bantwal and Mrs. Babitha Alva, PTA President, Sahyadri P. U. College, were the Chief Guests.

Mrs. Mona Mendonca delivered a comprehensive lecture, filled with stories and anecdotes on the topic “Teenage Problems.” She explained the transitional phase of adolescence and the behavioral changes that occur among children. Mrs. Mendonca observed that parents need to play a pro-active role in the lives of their children by providing them attention, affection, assurance and moral support so that they don’t get alienated and fall into bad company. She appealed to students to take life seriously and to keep their parents happy by making the best use of the opportunities that come their way.

Mrs. Babitha Alva, offered her best wishes and complimented the college for fulfilling the expectations of the parents.

Mr. Naveen S. A. Principal, Sahyadri P. U. College presented the Annual Report on the activities and achievements of the college in the current academic year. In his address, he felt the present youth are not ‘useless’, ‘careless’ or ‘value-less’ but are ‘used less’, ‘cared less’ and ‘valued less’. He urged the parents to take keen interest in the activities of their children and sought their co-operation in ensuring academic excellence.

Top-scorers in II PU Board Exam (March 2014) and Term Exams were felicitated on the occasion. Winners of various competitions organized by Science Club and winners of V Annual Sports Meet were also honoured.

The formal programme was followed by splendid cultural performances by students.
