Feedback from a Placed Student

“Dear Juniors,
The Infosys recruitment drive was a good experience for me. The process consisted of two stages— an Aptitude Test and a Personal Interview.

The Aptitude Test was not very easy. There were 3 sections—Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal ability. Reasoning was easy compared to the other two. Quantitative and Verbal were tough. So please start practicing aptitude RIGHT NOW. The more you practice, the faster you can solve problems and successfully finish the test within the time limit.

The Personal Interview was good. Questions were asked based on my resume. As I am from mechanical engineering, I was asked many questions on the projects done and internships attended and it was not software related. Some of the questions that I was asked were: Tell me about yourself? Tell me something about your final year projects? You had been to MRPL (internship), tell me about what you studied there? Being a mechanical engineering student, how do you think you can learn and work in a software company? Give me an example from your college life which shows your leadership skills (I had mentioned this in the resume). What are the problems that you faced and how did you solve it? Give me an example in the present industry where both computer and mechanical knowledge is applied to solve problems?

Then he asked me a hypothetical question: Think that I have selected you and you are working in Infosys, you are well versed in mechanical concepts and down the line you will be an experienced software engineer. However, you can’t just forget all the mechanical knowledge you have gained all these years. What would you do with that knowledge? Do you know anything about C programming? What are pointers? I have observed that you are a localite; now if you get selected, are you ready to work away from your hometown? I hope my feedback will help you. All the Best!”

Quote for the day

"It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership."
