Sahyadari NSS Unit organizes awareness programme on Laws related to Women

Sahyadri NSS Unit in association with National Commission for Women, New Delhi and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi organized a Two-Day Awareness Programme for the First Year Engineering students on laws related to Women. Ms. Marlin Martis, Director of Development Education Society (DEEDS), Kadri, Mangaluru was the resource person for the session. She spoke about the Fundamental Rights and major Laws relating to women, POSCO Act, Anti-Harassment Laws and Workplace women rights and laws. A total of 125 students will now participate in a Nation-wide competition on women laws which will be held in Sahyadri on Saturday 22nd Dec’18.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Dr. Anush Bekal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and is the Faculty In-charge of Industry Connect (IC). He completed his PhD in Microelectronics (ECE) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A); M.S in VLSI/CAD from Manipal University (Institute of Eminence) and B.E (ECE) from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). He has taught several courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate level, having 7+ years of experience in the field of teaching and research. His research interest includes Analog and Mixed Signal VLSI Circuits, Low Power ADCs, Digital Design, Analog Circuit Design, Verilog/VHDL. Recently, he has been nominated as the Convener for Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of MHRD (Govt. of India) at Sahyadri.
Introduction of the Mentees:
• Akash is from Mangaluru. He completed his high-school from St. Theresa’s school, Mangaluru and pre-university college from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. He holds interests in drawing, painting and building electronic models. He wants to dedicate his future in the area of Robotics & Automation engineering.
• Ibrahim Shaad Afnan is from Thokottu, Mangaluru. He has completed his high-school & PUC from St. Sebastian, Thokottu. His hobbies include playing football, listening to music and watching movies. He wants to work in a reputed multinational company for building electronic applications through which he can serve and help in addressing basic societal needs.
• Joswin Mascarenhas is from Puttur. He completed his high school & pre-university college from St. Philomena, Puttur. His hobbies include singing, painting, and gardening. He wishes to pursue his Masters in Electronics from the top 50 universities of the world.
• Monisha U P is from Puttur. She completed her high school from Sudana High School, Puttur and PUC from Ambika Padavi Poorva Vidyalaya, Puttur. Her hobbies include reading books, gardening and badminton. Technically, she is good at coding and programming and her aim is to get placed in IBM.
• Shraddha S Rai is from Yekkur, Mangaluru. She completed her high school at St. Ann’s High School and Pre-university at St. Agnes PU College. Her hobbies include dancing, badminton, throw ball & listening to music. As a part of her co-curricular activities she wants to teach school kids with variety entertainment & she aims in settling at Samsung Electronics.
• Varsha B Pis from Sakleshpur. She completed her high school at JSS Public School Bage and Pre-university at St Aloysius PU College Mangaluru. Her hobbies include singing, painting & Chess. Her area of interest is software developing and she aspires to get placed in Infosys.
