First Year MBAs visit Adani Power Plant and RMC Ready mix

Dept. of Business Administration organized an industrial visit for a total of 60 first year MBA students to Adani Power Limited and RMC Readymix Pvt.Ltd. In Adani Power Plant, the students witnessed the enormous facility spread across 600 Acres. Adani Power Limited is the power business subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Adani Group with head office at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Mr. Vasanth, the HR Manager briefed the students on the operation of the plant. He also addressed the students about the operations at the HR Department answering all queries that students had relating to HR domain.

At RMC Readymix Pvt.Ltd., Baikampady, the HR-Head briefed the students about the various production methods and specifications of the products. He also took them around the production unit where the students witnessed production of RMC Ready mix. Students had good take away from both the companies.

Research Article of a Faculty published in Elsevier Journal

A research paper titled - “Highly c-axis oriented crystal growth induced giant unusual saturable absorption behavior in wet chemically grown ZnO thin films” co-authored by Dr. F. Jyothi Serrao, Associate Professor, Department of Physics has been published in the International Journal of ‘Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures 107 (2019) 47–53 (SCI indexed, Elsevier Journal, having an impact factor of 2.399). Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Sudheer Shetty is the Dean Examinations and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. He did his B.E. from Mangalore University and M.Tech from VTU, Belagavi. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD from VTU, Belagavi. He is an academician with overall teaching experience of 18 years which includes 4 years of research and 8 years of administration. He is nominated as the Member of Board of Studies (BoS) in Computer Science (UG) programme of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru for a period of 3 years (2017-20). He served as the Member of Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) of VTU for inspecting the various Engineering colleges for the purpose of continuation or granting of the courses during the academic years 2013-14 & 2015-16. He has also served as the Head of the Department of CSE for a period of 7 years (2011 to 2018) at Sahyadri. Prior to Sahyadri, he worked as the Head of the Department of CSE at KVG College of Engineering, Sullia. His areas of expertise include Cloud Computing, System programming, Operations Research and Algorithms.

• Abiya Ann Saji is the student of First Semester ‘J’ Section. She is from Mangaluru. She studied her 10th at Victoria Girls High School, Ladyhill and did her PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include Singing, Dancing & Reading books. She wishes to work in reputed IT firm after completing her M.Tech in CSE.
• Bhavana is the student of First Semester ‘F’ Section. She is from Kundapur. Currently, she stays in college hostel. She studied her 10th at Govt. Junior College, Uppunda and did her PUC from MGM PU College, Udupi. Her hobbies include Drawing, Playing Badminton and Painting. She aspires to work in a reputed MNC after her graduation.
• Chirag Shetty is the student of First Semester ‘L’ Section. He is from Bantwal. He studied his 10th at Devamatha English Medium School, Karingana and did his PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include Playing Volleyball, Kabaddi and Listening to music. He has won several prizes in Science Model making competitions at District Level. He aims to join the Indian Army as a Technical Engineer and also wishes to pursue his MS in Germany.
• K Keerthana is the student of First Semester ‘K’ Section. She is from Surathkal. She studied her 10th at Delhi Public School, Mangaluru and did her PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include Dancing, Listening to Music, Drawing & Flower decoration. She plays football and won first place at school level. Her future plans include having an MBA degree after Engineering & getting placed in Infosys.
• Muhammed Anshar is the student of First Semester ‘G’ Section. He is from Kannur, Kerala and currently staying in a PG at Kankanady. He studied his 10th at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kannur and did his PUC from Yenepoya PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include Dancing & Playing Football. He is also an athlete and was the Sports Champion in school. He was also the college President during his PUC. He wishes to pursue his MBA from London and have his own start-up.
• Nandini S is the student of First Semester ‘F’ Section. She is from Bengaluru and currently staying with her uncle at Adyar Katte. She studied her 10th at MLA High School, Bengaluru and did her PUC from KLE Independent PU College, Bengaluru. Her hobbies include Cycling & Reading. She is a Classical dancer too. She aims to work in Google.
• Rakshan C K is the student of First Semester ‘C’ Section. He is from Madikeri and currently staying in college hostel. He studied his 10th at St. Michael High School, Madikeri and did his PUC from St. Michael PU College, Madikeri. His hobbies include playing games & Reading novels. He is a good speaker and is a member of Oratocrats club. He wishes to work in any of the Top coding companies after pursuing his MS.
