In-Unity 2K19 is organized at SahyadriIn-Unity 2K19 is organized at Sahyadri In-Unity 2K19 was organized at Sahyadri with the intention of fueling the passion to innovate and lead in the youth of our country, on 2nd Dec’19.

On this occasion, Sahyadri got to host three eminent personalities, Ms Elena Churina, Chairman, Agency for Innovative Development of Regions; Mr. Kim Peng Foo, Adjunct Associate Professor, Entrepreneurship, Singapore University Technology Design and Dr Abhishek Vaish, who has served as the Head of Science and Technology Wing of the Embassy of India, Moscow, as the panel of judges.

In India, innovation is still not the epicenter of education. In order to achieve the cultural shift and to ensure that ‘Innovation and Startup’ culture is the primary fulcrum of our higher education system, a lot of initiatives have been taken at the government level.

Over the decade, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management has emerged as an innovation hub in the region through its initiatives to drive community based innovations and practices that have given rise to industries and Startups in the region.

An insight into In-Unity 2019:
A campus tour was conducted to give a clear insight on what Sahyadri is doing, what its vision is and how it is realising its vision.
Fifteen teams including winners of Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) 2019 pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. Each team was allotted 5 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes of Q&A session. These shortlisted projects had a training for the last two weeks to help pitch these ideas.

What SSTH strives to do:
• Sensitise 15000+ individuals to the community problems and encourage them to be problem solvers rather than solution seekers.
• Create a platform for 2500+ budding enthusiasts and innovators across schools and colleges to propose solutions for community based problems.
• Create a platform for local innovators. Investors, industrialists , influencers to support and nurture ideas that can uplift the lifestyle of the individuals of the community
• To incubate 5 ideas that have the potential to impact the lives of many.

Round Table Conference was held on the following topics:
• Creating a global innovation ecosystem.
• Capacity Building through international Collaboration
• Making start-up Incubators self-reliant
• Investment / Funding opportunities from international Organisation.
Recommendations will be compiled and shared with all the relevant bodies (in the government), universities and higher educational institutions, and with other concerned stakeholders.

Interaction with the Launchapds:
In-Unity 2K19 is organized at Sahyadri An interactive session with the entrepreneurial aspirants of Sahyadri was organized so that they can benefit from the insights of the international delegates. Students with an incredible caliber and brilliant ideas got to pitch the same to these guests and five teams from the sixteen that pitched are to be incubated here.

This event was a learning experience for all the participants and volunteers alike as they got to interact with some of the best minds of the world. Everybody had something to take away from this.

Sahyadri Capital Advisors LLP conducts Session on Financial Awareness, Education and Entrepreneurship at Abbettu School in Meremajalu VillageSahyadri Capital Advisors LLP conducts Session on Financial Awareness, Education and Entrepreneurship at Abbettu School in Meremajalu Village As a part of Sahyadri Capital Financial Education Initiative and in order to promote Financial Inclusion Vision of Government of India, Sahyadri Capital Advisors conducted sessions on Banking, Insurance, Capital Market and Money Market, Risk Free Assets and Rural Women Entrepreneurship at Abbettu School in Meremajalu Village, on 30th Nov’19.

With a view to spread Financial Awareness, the interns of Sahyadri Capital have taken an initiative in educating and providing awareness of different products and services available in the financial market and how carefully they need to safeguard their savings and investments.

The team gave hands on experience to the school teachers and the parents with regard to ATM, mobile banking, deposits and other fund transfer activities. The interns also explained them about various other capital market and money market risk free assets. The team has taken an initiative in guiding the participants on government support on different entrepreneurial schemes.

The participants were very happy with this initiative of Sahyadri Capital. They have expressed their delight and look forward to participate in many more such events in the near future.

Sahyadri Signs MoU with KCCI, Mangaluru for Industry-Academia Collaboration Sahyadri Signs MoU with KCCI, Mangaluru for Industry-Academia Collaboration With the prime objective of having industry-institute interface, Sahyadri has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). The students of Sahyadri who seek a rewarding career in engineering and management or to become entrepreneurs, shall get hands-on information and knowledge through this mutual understanding.

KCCI through its members will be able to enhance the confidence of the students, by nurturing young minds and help budding young talents. This MoU would help Sahyadri in terms of internships for students, seek consultancy services from the faculty, conducting guest lectures, certification programmes, workshops etc.

The MoU was signed by Dr R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal and Mr Isaac Vas, President of KCCI. Ms Athmika Amin, Director of KCCI and Chairperson of Women Entrepreneurship Committee, Mr P B Mudasser, Director of KCCI and Ms Salome Deepa Lobo, Chairperson Industry Academia Interface, Sub-committee (KCCI), graced the occasion by their presence.

KCCI, Mangaluru is a not-for-profit organisation and the apex body in the region which works along with the members, for the empowerment and betterment of the business community and strives for the development of trade, commerce and industry, entrepreneurs, and has rendered remarkable service to the economic progress of Dakshina Kannada.

Industrial Expert from Ada Inc, Canada visited Sahyadri

Industrial Expert from Ada Inc, Canada visited Sahyadri Mr Royal Sequeira, of Ada Inc Canada visited Sahyadri on 30th Nov’19 and addressed the ACM Chapter of Sahyadri. He discussed about the possible future collaborations with ACM Sahyadri Chapter.

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Sahyadri Student Chapter is a student-driven enthusiastic community that aims to elevate the skills and interests of its members and achieve overall development. ACM brings together computing educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, and address the field's challenges.

Mr Sequeira is a Machine Learning Engineer at Ada Inc which is an AI-based startup in Canada. He had completed his Masters at the University of Waterloo, Canada, in Computer Science. He is mentoring around 150+ students across India. ACM Sahyadri Chapter had an opportunity to connect with him during Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund (VKSSF) camps.

Mr Royal Sequeira was mesmerized by visiting the Centre of Excellence, Machine Learning and Cybersecurity and various other initiatives of Sahyadri during the visit.

Special Awareness Session on HIV-AIDS is conducted in Commemoration of World AIDS Day Special Awareness Session on HIV-AIDS is conducted in Commemoration of World AIDS Day In commemoration of World AIDS Day, Mr Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor, conducted a special session on HIV - AIDS Awareness for the first year MBA students. He explained about origins and definitions of the disease, symptoms, myths and misconceptions of AIDS.
Last but not least, Mr Ankith stressed on the role of youth in prevention of the disease.

Manipal Technologies Conducts Campus Recruitment Drive for MBA Students  Manipal Technologies Conducts Campus Recruitment Drive for MBA Students Manipal Technologies conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive for the MBA-Marketing students of 2020 outgoing batch. The process began with a Pre-placement Talk by Mr Sudhir Kamath-Assistant Program Manager and Ms. Vidya Shenoy-Head Talent Acquisition.

Apart from the above, the Recruitment Team comprising of Mr Deepak Kumar B, Deputy Manager Mr Shivaprasad PG, Senior Manager-HR, Ms Shruthi Holla, Senior Executive HR, Mr Nagaprasad Shettigar, Manager HR were also present.

After the Pre-Placement Talk, the Group Discussion Round followed by Personal Interview and an HR Round was conducted. Around 20 students participated in the Drive. Out of these, 8 students were shortlisted for the final HR round and the results are awaited.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Prof Anilkumar N S, received his B.E degree in Civil Engineering from JNN College of Engineering, Shivamogga and M.Tech degree in Environmental Engineering from University of B.D.T College of Engineering, Davangere. After his under graduation, he worked at K.S Polytechnic, Bengaluru as a lecturer and after post-graduation he continued his teaching career from Sahyadri College of Engineering &Management. He has 4 years of teaching experience. He worked as an internship trainee at Karnataka Government District Bio Fuel Information and Demonstration Center, Shivamogga for different projects such as “Studies on Environmental Issues Concerned with Extraction of Bio- Fuel” and “Treatment and Testing of Bio Diesel Washed Water” and this project is funded by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology under “Student Proposal Programme – 40th Series”. He has a few publications to his credit. His area of interest is Water and Wastewater Engineering.

Mentees’ Details:
• Shezad Ahmed, is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Milagres High School and PUC from Milagres PU College, Mangaluru. He secured first place in singing. He won several awards in singing and cricket tournament. His interest is to make his talent as his passion and to improve his skills by interacting with others.
• Rakshith G is from Mysuru. He pursued his schooling from St Joseph Central School and PUC from Manasa Sarovara Pushkarni Vidyashram, Mysuru. He likes to play basketball and was a part of Mysuru University team. He wants to be an architect.
• Rihan Ahmed, is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from St Theresa's School and PUC from St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. He likes to play football and to listen to music. He has a passion for cars and wishes to be an automobile engineer.
• Aachal is from Karwar. She pursued her schooling from St Michael's Convent High School, Karwar and PUC from Alvas PU College, Moodbidri. She has participated in many singing competitions and won many prizes. Her aim is to become a successful person.
