Webinar on "Globalization and International Marketing: Meaning & Significance to Countries, Organizations and Individuals” by Dr. Van Wood, Philip Morris Chair in International Business, Professor of International Marketing, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA

Globalization and International Marketing: Meaning & Significance to Countries, Organizations and Individuals In relation to the ongoing talks regarding MoU with Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, the first Webinar was organised for MBA students.

The students and faculty of the Dept. of Business Administration utilized the opportunity of attending the Webinar on “Globalization and International Marketing: Meaning & Significance to Countries, Organizations and Individuals” by Dr. Van Wood, Philip Morris Chair in International Business, Professor of International Marketing, Director, Centre of International Business Advancement (CIBA), Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, USA.

Dr. Wood enlightened the participants about Globalisation 2.0 and Golden Strait Jacket - A perspective of different countries about globalisation and growth. He emphasized on the key dimensions of the culture for a successful International Business and also provided with the glimpse about understanding the world today.

At the end of the session, there were excellent questions raised by the participants which Dr. Wood clarified with certain instances. Several participants expressed their desire to learn more about Globalisation and International Marketing from Dr. Van Wood.

Dr. Van Wood (Ph.D.) is a specialist in International Business having spent over 30 years in global marketing and trade. He was educated at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, spending one year as an officer aboard a US Merchant Vessel.

He pursued BA (Marketing) and MBA (International Business) from the University of Washington and Ph.D (International Marketing) from the University of Oregon. His teaching, research and consulting focus on “Globalization” and “Selection and Development of International Markets”.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Prof. Adesh Padival B pursued his B.E in Mechanical Engineering from VTU Belagavi and M.Tech in Engineering Management from Manipal University. He has two years of teaching experience. He has published research Papers in reputed journals and presented his ideas at two conferences. His areas of interest are Bio Diesel Systems, Machine Design and Total Quality Management.

Mentees’ Details:
• Jeevith H Amin is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Vidyadayeene and PUC from Govindadas College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include painting, playing cricket and football. He aspires to become an automobile designer after his graduation.
• Mohammed Aboo Sufiyan is from Melkar. He pursued his schooling from SVS Temple English Medium High School, Bantwal and PUC from Thumbay PU College, Thumbe. His hobbies include playing cricket, football and driving. He aspires to become an entrepreneur after his graduation.
• Mohammed Mashroof is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Mahesh High School and PUC from Mahesh PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include playing cricket, volleyball, kabaddi and football. He has represented HFS in State Volleyball Meet. He aspires to work in an automobile company after his graduation.
• Pranesh V Rai is from Bengaluru. He pursued his schooling from PSBB Learning Leadership Academy and PUC from AECS MMPS, Bengaluru. His hobbies include playing football, drawing and quizzing. He has represented his school and college in state level football, handball and drawing competitions. He aspires to work in a reputed manufacturing firm after his graduation.
