Sahyadrians win Gold Award for ‘SMART HELMET’ in KPIT Sparkle 2018 at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune

Sahyadrians win Gold AwardSahyadrians win Gold Award The 'SMART HELMET' concept representing Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management has won the ‘Gold Award’ in the Grand finale of KPIT Sparkle 2018, one of the largest and most reputed innovation contests. The team has received a trophy, medals and cash prize of Rs. 5 Lakhs. The Award was conferred to them by Mr. Harkesh Mittal, Adviser, Member Secretary, National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) in the august presence of Dr. K Radhakrishnan, former Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as the chief guest of the event. The ‘Platinum Award’ was won by IIT, Kharagpur for developing a flexible and disposable battery by using bacteria from sewage water along with a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

The Grand Finale of KPIT Sparkle 2018 witnessed Top 30 products which were selected through 4 rounds of rigorous scrutiny out of 12,000 applications received this year from more than 600 engineering and science colleges including 63 out of 100 top institutes of India and 28 premier institutes like IIT’s and NIT’s. The selection was based on the novelty, affordability, and commercial viability of the proposed ideas. The finale witnessed a reputed jury panel consisting of 14 jurors for the selection of the winners. The jury panel consisted of Padma Vibhushan, Dr. RA Mashelkar, Chairman Innovation Council KPIT; Dr. Alberto Sangiovani, Co-Founder Cadence Design and Synopsis Inc and Professor at the University of California and Berkeley; Dr. Kalus Bickle, CEO Audi and Dr. Peter Tropschuh, VP Strategy and Sustainability, Audi; Dr. Satish Ogale, Professor at IISER, Pune; Dr. Ashish Lele, Chief Scientists, National Chemistry Laboratory; Dr. CS Kumar, National Innovation Centre, Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab of IIT Kharagpur; Dr. Rajesh Zele of IIT Bombay and Dr. Milind Rane, IIT Bombay; Dr. Ravi Pandit, Co-founder, Chairman and Group CEO, KPIT Technologies Ltd and Dr. Anup Sable CTO, KPIT.

It was an honour for Sahyadrians to participate in such a reputed event, compete against other premier universities and also get recognised nationally.

Hands-On Typing, a Short Term Course has been introduced for MBAs

Hands-On Typing, a Short Term Course has been introduced for MBAs Students of 1st year MBA were trained on Typing Master Pro, an effective tool to bridge the gap in Typing Skills. One of the must-have skills in a student is Typing skills which is much sought after by the recruiting firms. Students were hand held to install the Trial Version of Typing Master Pro, take up Typing course and also undergo Typing Test. The Benchmark set for Typing Speed is 40 Net Words Per Minute & Typing Accuracy at 100%. Pre-Training Scores were tracked. Students have been given a deadline of one week to achieve the set target of typing speed and accuracy.

Student Counsellor Interacts with United Nations representative

Student Counsellor Interacts with United Nations representative Mr. Ankith S. Kumar, Student Counsellor got an opportunity to meet and interact with Dr. Joseph Wronka, Representative to the United Nations in Geneva for the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and Professor of Social Work, Springfield College, Massachusetts USA at the International Social Work conference organised at Roshni Nilaya. Dr. Wronka was the chief guest and key note speaker at the conference. Dr. Wronka and Ankith discussed about human rights issues that are applicable in the educational setting. Dr. Wronka shared some of his experiences dealing with human rights violation cases and emphasized on the importance of educating students about Human Rights.

Sahyadrian recruited by Tayana Software Solutions

Sahyadrian recruited by Tayana Software Solutions Suraj Shettigar from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was selected as Engineer Trainee by Tayana Software Solutions in the recently held Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for the outgoing 2018 Batch.

The students who have not uploaded previous marks card of 2 semesters and also whose applications were rejected for some reason are allowed to resubmit the application through online on or before 23/02/2018. Students who have updated their applications online should submit the documents to the scholarship section immediately for the further processing without fail.
Last date for online resubmission of application is 23rd February 2018
