[24]7.ai visited Sahyadri to conduct a Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for the 2019 outgoing batch and also 2017 and 2018 passed out batches. A four member team headed by Mr. Durga Prasad, Sr. HR, Ms. Sarah Irene, HR Specialist, Mr. Amit Dhiman and Mr. Fahad from the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 120 students from pool colleges participated in the drive and the results are awaited.

Sahyadri opens its doors to new faculty

Dr. Rajesh A. Shetty is the new faculty who has joined Sahyadri as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has completed B.E in Mechanical Engineering from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. He has completed M.Tech in Machine Design from B.M.S College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He obtained Ph.D degree in Solid Mechanic from IIT-Bombay, Mumbai. His area of Specialization is Solid Mechanic.

Department: Mechanical Engineering
Introduction of Mentor:
Prakash Kumar Kavalur is working as assistant professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. He has obtained his B.E. Degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and Masters’ Degree in Machine Design from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management under VTU. He has 4.5 years of teaching experience. His research areas include Finite Element Method, Vibration and Acoustics, Theory of Machines and Fracture Mechanics.
He has published one paper in Elsevier (International Conference) which was held at NITK, Surathkal. He also achieved an Elite Certificate from NPTEL (with 80%) on the subject ‘Finite Element Method’. He has also attended many workshops and FDPs at various institutes.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Nishanth J Bhandary hails from Bantwal. He pursued his high school in Sheshadripuram High School, Yelahanka Satellite Town, Bengaluru and PUC in SDM PU College, Ujire. His hobbies include singing, dancing, reading and listening to music. He has participated in state level singing competition and also in Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt (SSTH) and has won a consolation prize. Apart from this, he has participated in IIT events and won 1st and 2nd prizes thereby bringing laurels for his team.
• Hanumantha is from Bagalkot, North Karnataka. He did his schooling in Canara High School, Mangalore and PU from Canara PU College, Mangalore. His hobbies include playing volley ball, reading and listening to music. He is a good singer too. He aspires to become a car designer.
• Manish B. Naik from Bantwal. He did his high school in Shri Ramakrishna high school Puttur and PUC from Vivekananda PU College. His hobbies include reading newspaper, story books and listening to music. His achievement includes got 2nd prize in state level Essay writing competition. His aspiration is to join any reputed marine company like Anglo Eastern.
• Swasthik R. Shetty from Mangalore. He did his high school as well as PU in Milagres PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include reading, listening to music, playing cricket and swimming. His main achievement is he is one of the best cricketers of our times. He has also won district level prize. His aspiration is to become an entrepreneur and have his own startup.
• Roshan Mahmood is from Ullal, Mangaluru. He did his high school in Hazrath Seyyid Madani High School, Ullal and PUC from St. Aloysius, PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include playing cricket and reading novels. He aspires to work with core manufacturing company.
• Anup N. is from Karkala. He pursued his high school in Canara High School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Aloysius, PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include listening to music, swimming and playing volleyball. He aspires to work with core Design Company.

Introduction of Mentor:
Mr. Prasad Chandran N. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his diploma in Automobile Engineering from KVG Poly Technic, Sullia, Bachler of Engineering and Master of Technology from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management Mangaluru. Presently he is pursuing Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. His research area includes Eco-friendly Mouling Material for Foundry, Hybrid Composites, IC Engines and Automotive Mechanics etc. He has been into teaching since last 7 years. He handles subjects for both UG and PG courses such as Mechanics of Machinery, Computer Aided Machine Drawing, Fluid Power Systems, Tribology, Fluid Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Machine tools and Operations & Experimental Stress Analysis.

Prof. Sunil Kumar P. is working as Assistant Professor in the department of Electronics & Communication. He obtained his B.E Degree from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology, Chikmaglur and M.Tech Degree from Rajeev Institute of Technology, Hassan. He has 4 years of teaching experience. His research interest is VLSI and embedded system.

• Sannidhi is from Mangaluru. She did her schooling at Mangala High School and studied PUC at Sharada PU College. Her hobbies include dancing and drawing. She wants to serve in the Indian Air force.
• Neeharika U. Devadiga is from Mangaluru. She did her schooling at St. Gerosa High School and studied PUC at Sharada PU College. Singing and drawing are her hobbies. She aspires to get placed in a multinational company.
• Siddarth Shetty is from Kudroli, Mangaluru. He did his schooling at St. Aloysius High School and studied PUC at St. Aloysius PU College. He has participated in the national level karate competition. Building planes, video editing, and volleyball playing is his hobbies. He wants to start his own aerospace company which will deal mainly in space travel and other fastest means of transportation.
• Dhanush D.V. is from Panemangalure, Bantwal Taluk. He did his schooling at Shree Rama High School and studied PUC at Vivekananda PU, College. He participated in state level Kho-Kho competition. Drawing is his hobby. He aspires to get into a private company and work as a design and maintenance engineer for electronic equipment system.
