Sahyadri receives guests from J.R. Group of Companies

Sahyadri receives guests from J.R. Group of Companies Dr. K.J. Purushotham, Managing Director; and Dr. S.R. Nagaraj, Chairman - J.R. Group of Companies visited Sahyadri. They were received with warmth by our Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary. The guests interacted with the chairman and the management. Concurrently, they visited the various departments and their respective innovation centres. The guests were awestruck with the fact that Sahyadri is creating such an ambience for the youngsters to be innovators. They adequately praised our chairman on his excellent commitment towards building such a great institute.

Prof. Lingaraju G.M. of M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology visits Sahyadri Prof. Lingaraju G.M. of M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology visits Sahyadri Prof. Lingaraju G.M., Professor of Information Science & Engineering, M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology visited Sahyadri. He interacted with the faculties of Computer Science & Engineering as well as Information Science & Engineering.

In the discussion that ensued, Prof. Lingaraju spoke about matters related to The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and went on to explain how NBA evolved through the ‘Washington Accord’, an International Agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting undergraduate engineering degree programs.

Furthermore, Prof. Lingaraju also gave an overview of the Outcome Based Education (OBE) and went on to say that OBE is an educational theory that bases each part of an educational system around goals. He stressed on the vision and mission of the college and the department. He related each NBA criteria through some real life examples. He also shared story of his inspiring journey and subsequent success stories.

Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal, and Dr. Rajesha S. Dean, Academics also took part in the interaction. Members of Sahyadri NBA Cell were also present and carried out discussions with him.

Sahyadri Alumnus interacts with third year students Sahyadri Alumnus interacts with third year students Mr. Abhishekh Bangera, an alumnus from the 2014-2018 Batch visited the campus and interacted with the third year students.
Mr. Bangera is presently working as a Python Tester in Mphasis, Bengaluru. He shared his industrial experience and discussed about the challenges faced in adapting to the industrial environment. He gave a glimpse of the various projects he has worked on, in Mphasis. He encouraged the students to inculcate the habit of learning new skills. He also stressed on the fact that learning is a never ending process and advised the students to focus on project based learning.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Mr. Vasudeva Rao P. V. is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He obtained his B.E [CSE] from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru and M.Tech [CSE] from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru. His area of interest is Image Processing and Cyber Security.

Introduction of Mentees:
• Mr. Sashwath Shenoy is from Mannagudda, Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Canara High School, Urwa and PUC at Canara College. His hobbies are gaming, listening to songs, photography and sports. He aspires to become a good software engineer in a reputed company.
• Ms. M. Krithika Rai is from Bantwal. She did her schooling at Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Mudipu and PUC at Vittal PU College, Vittal. She is bright and academically inclined. She aspires to become a software engineer in a reputed multinational company.
• Mr. Suhan is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling and PUC at Lourdes Central School, Bejai. He is good in programming and electronics. He is interested in the area of Machine Learning and aspires to become an entrepreneur.
• Ms. K. Anusha Rao is from Mannagudda, Mangaluru. She did her schooling at Canara Girls School and PUC at Canara College. She aspires to become a successful software engineer. Her main hobby is painting.
• Mr. Adithya is from Padil, Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Presidency School and PUC at Expert PU College. He is good in programming. He desires to join a reputed IT organization and be a good engineer.
• Ms. Bhumi is from Pandeshwar, Mangaluru. She did her schooling at Canara Girls School and PUC at Mahesh PU College. She desires to join a reputed IT organization and be a successful engineer.
• Mr. Rahul Rao is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Canara High School and PUC at Canara PU College. He aspires to become a software engineer in a reputed multinational company.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Manohar K. is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Civil Engineering. He received his B.E Degree in Civil Engineering from STJ Institute of Technology, Ranebennur and M.Tech in Structural Engineering from Government Engineering College, Haveri, under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. After Post-graduation he joined Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. He has 4.5 years of teaching experience. He has a few publications to his credit and is a member of MISTE.

Introduction of Mentees
• Tabassum Pathan is from Mangaluru, completed her high school at St. Anthony’s Higher Primary School, Don Bosco Institute, Sirsi, Uttarkannada. She completed her PUC from Chaitanya PU College, Sirsi. She is a district level throwball player. Her aspiration is to be an independent and successful entrepreneur after completion of her engineering.
• Devika P.V. is from Kerala. She completed her high school from Christ CMI Public School, Kasaragod and PUC from GHSS Balla East, Kasaragod. Her hobbies are dancing and travelling. She won 3rd place in Thiruvathira Competition, a dance performed in Kerala on the auspicious day of Thiruvathira festival. Her dream is to become a unique personality.
• Adarsh K.N. hails from Kundapura. He completed his SSLC from Sri Venkataramana English Medium School, Kundapura and PUC from Sri Venkataramana PU College, Kundapura. His hobbies are bodybuilding, exploring new places, photography and modelling. He secured 2nd place in Wrestling Competition and 1st place in Yoga Competition at the District Level. He participated in VTU Level Power Lifting Competition. His aspiration is to become a successful businessman and a successful personality who thinks out of box.
• Nithesh R. Shetty is from Mangaluru. She completed SSLC at Sacred Heart Higher Primary School, Madanthyar and PUC from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Pre University College, Ujire. His hobbies are playing kabaddi, drawing, and bike riding. Having been a badminton player, he has represented in district level events. He is also a throwball player at Taluk Level. Where kabaddi is concerned he has won first place, twice. His aspiration is to become a creative civil engineer and explore. He wants to excel in life as a successful person.
• Saif Sulaiman hails from Kasaragod. He studied SSLC in Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Kasaragod, and PUC in HHHIBS, Swamiji’s Higher Secondary School, Edneen. His hobbies are drawing and playing football. His aspiration is to become a sportsman. Nevertheless, in the professional field, he wishes to emerge as a successful person.
• Mohammed Rihad is from Kerala. He completed SSLC from G.V.H.S.S Mulleria, Kasaragod, Kerala and PUC from B.A.R.H.S.S., Bovikana, Kasaragod, Kerala. His hobbies are playing cricket, football and volley ball. His aspiration is to become an entrepreneur.

Introduction of Mentor
Mr. Denis Pinto is currently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Pinto joined this institution in 2007 on Day One of the opening of this college as a senior instructor in the department of mechanical engineering. He is sincere and committed with a passion for any kind of technical work. He has done his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte. Thereafter he worked for a private ship repairing company at NMPT, Panambur. After joining the institution by the recommendation of the management he has completed his Bachelor of Engineering degree and post graduate in the same institution. He has 9 years of industrial experience, 8 years of experience as a lab instructor, and 3 years of teaching experience.

• Badrinath A.R. is from Bangalore. He has completed his PUC at Narayana PU College, Bangalore. His hobbies are photography and bike riding. He wishes to excel in his interested field of photography alongside of engineering.
• Jeevith V. is from Puttur. He has completed his education from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. His hobbies are learning new things and playing cricket. He wants to get into an executive position in a reputed company.
• P.S. Shreyas is from Mangalore. He has completed his PUC in Vikas PU College, Mangalore. His hobbies are cycling and reading books on general knowledge. He loves to collect stamps, coins and currencies. He wants to pursue his career in industry.
• Sai Kiran is from Mangaluru. He completed his PUC in Mahesh PU College. His hobbies are painting and travelling. He wants to become a contractor cum Civil Engineer and continue in his father’s profession.

Introduction of Mentor:
Mr. Shreenath Waramballi is currently working as assistant professor in the department of Computer Science & Engineering. Prior to this, he has worked as assistant professor at Shree Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology, Udupi. He has 5.6 years of experience in the teaching field. He obtained his engineering degree at JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bengaluru and Master’s degree in GMIT, Davangere. Currently, he is pursuing Ph.D under the guidance of Dr. Guruprakash C.D. His research area is clustering analysis of data mining. His hobbies include playing cricket, badminton, singing, yoga and reading novels. He has published various Papers in international journals

• Pareeksha hails from Chikmagaluru. She pursued her high school in St. Agnes Girls School and completed her PUC in Boscoss PU College, Kodialbail. Her hobbies include reading, drawing and listening to music. Her hobbies are throwball, athletics. She has completed training in Classical Arangetram (dance debut) in Bharathanatyam. Her aspiration is to work for a reputed organization and become a successful person.
• Anusha is from Vitla. She pursued her high school in St. Rita's English Medium School, Vittla and completed her PUC in St Agnes PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include singing, reading, drawing, listening to music. Her aspiration is to become a good programmer.
• Kishnan is from Kanyana, Vitla. He pursued his high school in Sri Sathya Sai Institution and completed PUC from Vivekananda PU College, Puttur. His hobbies include singing and sports. He has represented our nation in Karate which was held at TM Pai, Lalbagh and won gold medal in national level competition. His aspiration is to be a good engineer.
• Vibha Shetty is from Manjeshwar. She pursued her high school in Sarojini Madhusudhan School and PUC in Sharada PU College, Manglaore. Her native place is Manjeswar. Her hobbies include singing and dancing. Her aspiration is to be a good engineer.
• Rovit Lawrence Fernandes is a native of Mangaluru. He pursued his high school in Infant Jesus English School and PUC in Carmel Composite PU College. His hobbies include playing cricket and keyboard. He participated in District Level Elocution Competition. He also served as president of the school. His aspiration is to be a good engineer.

Tomorrow at Sahyadri

IBM is visiting Sahyadri to conduct a Pool Campus Recruitment Drive for all branches of engineering students of 2019 outgoing batch and also 2017 and 2018 passed out batches. The recruitment is for the position of Technical Support Associate.
