During the concluding day of Global Conference – “The Future of Education” at Cartagena, Colombia, USA held during 13th to 16th Feb’2020, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman-Bhandary Foundation interacted with Mr. George de Lama, President at Eisenhower Fellowships and also the Eisenhower fellows.
This three-day global conference saw participation from educational thinkers, high-tech innovators, business leaders, government officials and other prominent experts.

CEO ONGC Foundation visits Sahyadri

Mr. Kiran DM, CEO of ONGC Foundation, was at Sahyadri on 16th Feb’2020. He visited the in-house companies and start-ups. He had words of praise for the world-class Cricket ground made available for GPL 2020 and appreciated Sahyadri for its unique contribution to the community and efforts driven towards the holistic development of students. He interacted with the Management and staff and expressed his interest to collaborate with Sahyadri in student-centric initiatives in the future.

Prelims of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2020, the flagship event of MBA Department

Dept. of Business Administration-MBA is in the process of freezing the winners of the Preliminary Quiz round from a total of 40 UG colleges. MBA Students are facilitating the prelims performing various roles as Quiz Master, Score Keeper, Time Keeper and so on. The selected teams of 3 each will be here at Sahyadri for the Grand Finale to be held on 6th March 2020 competing against 350 teams to win the Grand Title – “Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2020”.

Closing Ceremony of the Three-Day GSB Premier League (GPL) – 2020

Curtains were brought down on The Three-Day “Puzzolana GSB Premier League (GPL) – 2020” with a grand Closing Ceremony, on 16th Feb’2020.
The Three-Day event, comprising of Cricket, Entertainment, Food, Kids zone, Workshops, Adventure & Water Sports, Art & Culture, Talent Hunt and more, had taken off to a rollicking start on 14th Feb’2020 at the Sahyadri Riverside Ground.
At the closing ceremony, however, several eminent personalities were present. Two of whom were, Mr. Basti Vaman Madhav Shenoy, a noted Konkani activist popularly known as Vishwa Konkani Sardar & Founder of World Konkani Centre, and Mr. Gurudath Bantwalkar, Asst. Director at World Konkani Centre.
GPL 2020’ Cricket Tournament, the main attraction of the Mega GPL 2020 Utsav saw participation of around 16 teams, that played with great passion. However, Irvathur Sports Club, Manipal emerged as Champions and bagged the “Puzzolana GPL 2020 Trophy” along with a Cash Award. Cultural Extravaganza filled with diverse colours was organized. Some of the attractions included Boating, Cruise, Kite Festival, Zumba, Mega Unlimited Food Festival, etc. Various workshops and competitions were also held during the Three-day event

Second Year Engineering Students get honored for their Voluntary Services rendered on the Occasion of GSB Premier League (GPL) – 2020

On the occasion of GSB Premier League (2020), three students from Computer Science & Engineering viz. Mr. Vineet Nayak S, Mr. Vrashank Rao M and Mr. Uttam Kini H were honored for delivering the best volunteer service. These student volunteers were high on their energy during all three days of the event and contributed to the best of their ability for the success of GPL Utsav 2020.
Starting from serving to organizing an event, the student volunteers have put their hearts and souls into the volunteering work. They also participated actively in activities like zumba, cooking, etc.

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering conducts a Two-Days Workshop on Big Data Analytics

A Workshop on "Big Data Analytics using Hadoop" was conducted by the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering. The Resource Person for the workshop was Prof. Manjunath Mulimani, Assistant Professor, MIT, Manipal.
Prof. Mulimani gave an introduction to Big Data Analytics and conducted hands-on session on “MapReduce Programming for Big Data Analytics”. He also discussed the topics such as application of big data, future scope of big data, MapReduce and Data Transformation, MapReduce Programming Model, Workflow of MapReduce, Running MapReduce Job and Hadoop versions.
Students of Final Year Computer Science & Engineering actively participated in the workshop.

Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised workshop on “Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Tools”

As a part of the Professional Bodies activities, the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering organised a two-day Workshop on “Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Tools” during 14th to 15th Feb’2020 for the third and fourth Year students under the banner of IETE Students Forum (ISF).
Mr. Rajesh and Mr. Sujith from Agimus Technology Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru were the resource persons for the workshop. Introduction regarding the basics of VLSI Design and various design flow involved in the fabrication of IC were discussed. Hands-on exposure to modern EDA tools like System Vision, ModelSim, QuestaSim and NitroS03 used for the fabrication process were explained.
Circuit simulator, DC transfer analysis, Transient Analysis and AC Analysis were demonstrated in tanner tool for different analog circuits.

Dr. Rajesh A. Shetty is currently working as Associate Professor in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte and Master’s Degree in Machine Design from BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He obtained his Doctoral Degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with Solid Mechanics as specialization. Dr. Rajesh has more than six years of teaching and research experience in well renowned technical institutions. His research interests are focused on advanced Solid Mechanics, Structural Dynamics and Applications of Advanced Materials.

• Nishanth P Alva is from B.C. Road. He pursued his schooling from Infant Jesus English Medium School, Modankapu and PUC from Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru. His hobbies are listening to music and playing cricket & kabbadi. He aspires to work for Anglo Eastern Company.
