Chairman meets the Center Heads at Harvard University, USA

Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary visited Harvard University and had an opportunity to meet & interact with Center Heads of the various Harvard Schools. The visit contributed to a noteworthy discussion and insights about the various practices followed at the different Centers of Harvard and its University.

Below mentioned are the Center Leaders and their brief profile:

John Della Volpe, Eisenhower Fellow-2017, Founder & CEO of SocialSphere, Inc. and Director of Polling Institute of Politics, Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, Massachusetts
John Della Volpe John Della Volpe is referred by The Washington Post as one of the world’s leading authorities on global sentiment, opinion and influence especially among Millennials and in the age of digital and social media. He has received an Eisenhower Fellowship for which he traveled extensively throughout China, Hong Kong, and Korea and was appointed to the US - Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission on Media.
John is also a founder of SocialSphere, Inc. a Cambridge based public opinion and Analytics Company. He also a member of the Global Alumni Council for Eisenhower Fellowships.

William Shaw, Eisenhower Fellow-2017, Executive Director, Athinoula A Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Harvard Medical School, Charlestown, Massachusetts
William Shaw William Shaw oversees operations of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center and facilitates collaborations with the Center’s partners in academia, the NIH, foundations and industry. He was awarded the prestigious Eisenhower fellowship where he focused on understanding the commonalities and differences between the innovation processes in the U.S compared to China. He is also a Bioethics Fellow at the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School. Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital is one of the world’s premier research centers devoted to development and application of advanced biomedical imaging technologies.

Ara Tahmassian, Ph.D., University Chief Compliance Officer, Harvard University, Office of the Provost, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Ara Tahmassian Ara Tahmassian, being a Chief Compliance Officer of Harvard University, he is responsible for the oversight of the review, development, and implementation of policies related to research compliance activities across the University and management of University-wide Institutional Committees. He is also the Project Director for a Department of State Funded program for “Building University Capacity in Responsible Science for Broader Middle East and North Africa.”
Prior to Harvard University, Dr. Tahmassian was the Associate Vice President for Research Compliance at Boston University and Boston Medical Center. He also served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at University of California San Francisco in until his retirement in October 2006.

Jill Reynolds, Eisenhower Fellow-2017, Associate Practice Area Director / Human Services, PCG, Boston, Massachusetts
Jill Reynolds Jill Reynolds leads (Public Consulting Group) PCG’s Aging and Disability Services Center of Excellence. She provides strategic leadership and support for human services projects involving Home and Community Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, disability services, employment support programs, and other programs serving elders and people with disabilities. She has worked extensively with numerous government programs across early childhood, public assistance, and employment services. Prior to joining PCG, Ms. Reynolds was Deputy Education Advisor to the Governor of Massachusetts.

A 33-Member MBA Team at Bhutan for Industry-Academia Connect

Bhtuthan visit Bhtuthan visit As part of the MBA Industry visit programme, a 33-Member MBA Mentor-Mentee Team comprising of students and three faculty members visited Bhutan during 10th to 14th Feb’2020. The team covered many major places in Bhutan, which consist of industries and academic institutions, The Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan mainly being one of them.

The MBAs had a wonderful opportunity to interact with the management and the staff of the Textile Academy. The students have taken up this as a case study in their curriculum. Overall the Industry visit was very fruitful and students were able to capitalize a lot of knowledge.

The Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan is an educational center for the training of individuals in traditional Bhutanese weaving. It has the market share of around 60%.

Faculty attends AICTE/MHRD’s Innovation Ambassador Training Program in Bengaluru

AICTE/MHRD’s Innovation Ambassador Training Program AICTE/MHRD’s Innovation Ambassador Training Program Dr. Anush Bekal, Vice-President, MHRD’s Institute Innovation Council (IIC), Dr. Ratishchandra R Gatti, The Convener, IPR Cell and Dr. Rajesh A Shetty, Associate Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, attended the AICTE/MHRD’s Innovation Ambassador Training Program during 26th to 27th Feb’2020 at ACS College of Engineering, Bengaluru for SWRO Zone.

The training program included the parallel sessions in the following areas:
1. Design Thinking and Innovations
2. IPR and Technology Transfer
3. Entrepreneurship Development Program
4. Pre Incubations and Incubations Management After completion of the training program, the participants received the MHRD IIC badges.

Sahyadri Semester VII B.E Results

VTU has announced the B.E. Semester VII Results 2019-20. Sahyadri stands at Overall 89.41%. Below is a branch-wise update of the VTU Results:
Civil Engineering at 83.70%
Out of 135 students who appeared for the VTU Examination, 113 students have passed.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Mr. R Jayaram, Associate Professor-Civil Engineering has expertise in Geotechnical Engineering. He is having Industry experience of 34 years and teaching experience of 8 years. He has published over 10 Papers in reputed journals. He is a Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and a reviewer member for research groups.

He has executed a number of Hydroelectric and Thermal Power projects. He has also executed multistoried building complex for offices and has wide experience in Hydrometric and Hydroelectric surveys. He also possesses knowledge in preparation of detailed project reports.

Introduction of the Mentees:
Vaibav Mukesh Rao is from Gujarat. He pursued his schooling from Laxmi International School, Umargam and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are reading and meeting new people. He wishes to write GATE examination and aims for high score which would help him get into premier institution for higher studies in India.

Arjun Sukumaran is from Kasaragod. He pursued his schooling from Yenepoya School and PUC from Expert PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are listening to music and reading novels. He is interested in higher studies.

Muhammed Saveer is from Kalladaka. He pursued his schooling from Gem English Medium High School, Kalladaka and PUC from Thumbay PU College, Bantwal. He is interested in watching sports and listening to music. He is interested in higher studies.
