MBA student pledged to Donate Organs

devika-organdonation Devikrishna A, a student of First Year MBA has taken the Pledge to donate her organs, after her lifetime under the guidance and supervision of Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor. She registered her name as a donor in the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO).

Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited as the Guest Speaker by NIT- K, Suratkal for a session on "Scientific Relevance of Ancient Indian Rituals and Wisdom in Modern Times". The event was organized by SMILE Club – NITK for their Engineering faculty and Students. Mr. Ankith S Kumar explained to the audience about the marvels of ancient Indian Science and Technology. He threw light on the rationale and science behind the ‘everyday rituals’ like - Why is it good to sit on the floor while having food? Why is a cat crossing the path considered a bad omen? Why do the couples take 7 Rounds for wedding vows? What is the significance of wearing Mehendi and Bangles? Why temples colored saffron and mosques are colored green? Why is it bad to talk while eating food? What is the significance of Shlokas and Mantras? and many such concepts. During the Q&A session, students were inquisitive of the topic and further gained clarity on why don't people get married on Tuesdays? Why do Gods fight in mythology? and so on.
