VTU Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) visits Sahyadri

A Six-Member VTU Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) visited Sahyadri. They met all the department heads and inspected the Departments for the purpose of Reporting.

The team visited the Legislative Assembly Bhavan and interacted with ministers and top officials. They had a healthy discussion on Politics and Management which brought out the essence of “Effective politics through best management practices”. The officials were impressed with the Sahyadri Mentor-Mentee System and have expressed their interest to visit Sahyadri and view the institution-lead start-ups.

Sahyadri follows a rigorous Mentor-Mentee System. As a first phase of interaction, the Mentor & Mentees have a One-One discussion about future aspirations and also share their area of interest. Here are the details of two of the Mentors and their respective Mentees.

Department of Mechanical Engineering
Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Suhas obtained his B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering from Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology, Chikmagalur and M.Tech degree in Machine Design from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru. He has 5 years of teaching experience at Sahyadri.
Introduction of the Mentees:
• Afham Ahmed Ashraf Bhava is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Middle East school, Saudi Arabia and studied PU at Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. He is good at playing football & other games, art and sketching. His aspiration is to become a Design Engineer.
• Dhanush is from Bantwal. He did his Schooling at SVS Temple School, Bantwal and studied PU at Carmel PU College, Modankap. His hobbies are playing cricket, painting and so on. His aspiration is to work in a core Mechanical Industry.
• Kevin Lawrence Dsouza is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru and studied PU at Expert PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing keyboard, video editing and photography. He is interested to work in a core Mechanical Industry.
• Munaz Mohammed is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling at International Indian School, Saudi Arabia and studied PU at St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobby is listening to music. His aspiration is to work in Marine field.
• Puneeth Ratnakar Rao K is from Ilkal, Bagalkot. He did his schooling at Siddivinayaka School, Kundapur and studied PU at Excellent PU College, Kundapur. His hobbies are playing Volleyball and Reading Novels. He is interested to work in a core Mechanical Industry.
• Shubham B More is from Sangli, Maharashtra. He did his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Panambur and studied PU at St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing Cricket & Football. He is interested to work in a core Mechanical Industry.
• Yash Prakash Naik is from Mangaluru. He did his schooling at Delhi Public School, Surat and studied PU at Boscos PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are photography and playing cricket. His aspiration is to become a Design Engineer.

Department: Information Science & Engineering
Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Prakhyath Rai has pursued B.E from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and M.Tech from NMAMIT, Nitte. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD from VTU, Belagavi. He has a total of 3.6 years of teaching experience. His research areas include text mining, knowledge distillation, text denoising, text refinement, data analytics and so on. He has published various research articles in reputed journals.

• Akash K P is from Kasargod. He studied his 10th Std. at SGKHS Kudlu, Kasargod and PUC at HHSIBSHSS Edneer, Kasargod. His hobbies are playing Cricket and acting in Yakshagana. His aspiration is to excel in the field of Information Technology.
• Sumanth Kumar S is from Kundapur. He studied 10th Std. at GPUC Brahmavara and PUC from Viveka Pre-University College Kota. His hobbies are drawing, playing Badminton and cycling. His aspiration is to excel in the field of robotics and to be a good software developer.
• Chethan is from Kundapura. He studied his 10th Std. at Morarji Desai School, Koteshwara and PUC from Viveka PU College, Kota. His hobbies are watching movies, drawing pencil sketches and cycling. He aspires to be a successful IT engineer.
• Rakshitha A is from Puttur. She completed her 10th Std. from Govt. Junior College, Uppinangady and PUC from Ramakrishna PUC, Ramakunja. Her hobbies include pencil sketching, reading and cycling. She aspires to be a professional software developer in top MNC.
• Keerthana K A is from Permannur. She completed her 10th Std. from Nithyadhar English Medium High School and PUC from Dr. NSAM PU College. Her hobbies include gardening and singing. She aspires to be a professional IT Engineer.
• Navisha Melita Pereira is from Mangaluru. She completed her 10th Std. from St. Agnes High School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Agnes PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies include cycling and singing. She aspires to be a software developer.
• Swasthik Shetty is from Mangaluru. He studied 10th Std. at Thumbay Central School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are gardening and singing. His aspiration is to be a professional App Developer.
