Sahyadri 10K Run Core Committee Meeting

During the “Sahyadri 10K Run” Core Committee Meeting held on 11th Jan’2020, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, President of DKAA and Chairman of Bhandary Foundation introduced the KAA and DKAA members to the “Sahyadri 10K Run Mangaluru” Core team. He emphasized on the roles & responsibilities of the committee and expressed how important their role is in the execution of the event on Sunday, 02-02-2020.

DKAA and Sahyadri team will be working collaboratively for the Grand success of Sahyadri 10K Run. DKAA member – Mr. Steven Dias addressed the committee and shared the flow of the event and also stimulated the team to leave no stones unturned in managing the event.

An Eighteen-Member Delegation from SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences headed by its Dean & Vice Principal visits Sahyadri

An Eighteen-Member Delegation from SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences headed by Dr. Shivaprakash Shetty, Dean & Vice Principal, visited Sahyadri. They met and interacted with Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman. The purpose of their visit was to discuss about the prospect of organizing a One-Day Mega Naturopathy & Yoga Awareness Camp ‘Nisargopchar Mahotsav’ at Sahyadri.

In view of this, the delegation went around the campus viewing various facilities and initiatives. Upon visiting, they appreciated the substantial infrastructure and lush green ambience of the institute. They were truly awestruck with the facilities provided at the campus.

The delegation lauded the Chairman on his excellent commitment towards building an institute of such magnitude. They left with a promise to visit again with their higher officials to carry out further discussions about organizing the camp.

Director-Research participates in 107th Indian Science Congress at UAS, Hebbal, Bengaluru

Dr. S Manjappa-Director, Research participated in the 107th Indian Science Congress held during 4th to 7th Jan’20 at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Hebbal, Bengaluru. The Meet was attended by many eminent personalities from the Science, Technology and Agricultural sectors.

During this Meet, Dr. Manjappa interacted with Dr. Rajkumar K. Joshi, Scientist E, Dept. of Science & Technology, New Delhi and Dr. B E Rangaswamy, Dean & Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere (BIET), Davengere.

The 107th Indian Science Congress is organized by the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Campus, Bengaluru, in association with the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata. The theme of the congress is “Science & Technology: Rural Development”. The Congress is a major focal point for scientists, researchers and academicians interested in various aspects of science discoveries and technologies. The 107th Indian Science Congress will serve as a platform for researchers, academicians, students and industries to share their findings in various fields of sciences.

DST-SERD 2019 Project Proposal submitted by Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is considered for Next Round of Review

DST-SERD Project Proposal entitled "Design and Development of Solar-wave Hybrid Energy Generator for Micro-grids and Seawater Desalination" testing the proposal submission submitted by Principal Investigator Dr. Rathishchandra R. Gatti from Dept. of Mechanical Engineering has been considered for next round of review under Technology Missions Division (Convergent Solar Solution Stream).

Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Kiran Prakash A. obtained his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from VCET, Puttur. He did his Masters’ of Technology M.Tech in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) from VTU Regional Centre at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Presently, he is pursuing Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. His research area includes Thermal and Oxidation behavior of Ceramic Coatings on High Temperature alloys.
Prof. Kiran Prakash has been into teaching since last 8.5 years. He handles subjects for both UG and PG courses. He is an active member of SAEINDIA. He was the Faculty Advisor for Collegiate SAE BAJA and SAE SUPRA Team for the Year 2015-2016 and also for the current academic year.

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Shreyas J Bangera is from Udupi. He pursued his schooling from Shri Narayana Guru English Medium School, Malpe and PUC from Poorna Prajna PU College, Udupi. He has participated in several National Intercollegiate Robotics competitions at various IITs and has won prizes in different categories. He has also participated in volleyball tournaments at District level. His aspiration is to join Indian Navy.

• Akshay Krishna Rai K is from Kasaragod. He pursued his schooling from Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kasaragod and PUC at Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. He is interested in Robotics Engineering. He has participated in several National Intercollegiate Robotics competitions at various IITs and has won prizes in different categories. He wants to pursue his career in the Marine Engineering field.

• Suhas P is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Canara High School and PUC from Sharada PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies include playing football & cricket and reading articles. He represented his School Team to participate in State Level Cricket Tournament. He wants to work for Anglo Eastern Company.

• Sanath H N is from Kundapur. He purued his schooling from Shri Venkatramana English Medium School and PUC from R.N Shetty PU College, Kundapur. His hobbies include playing football & cricket. He has represented School Team to participate in State Level Long Jump competition. His aspiration is to join Indian army.
