Mr. K R Vaidheeswaran, Joint Secretary of Department of Science & Industrial Research (DSIR)/Council of Science & Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. Of India, New Delhi is closely associated with the Director-R&D of Sahyadri – Dr. Manjappa S for the last 7 years and when Mr. Vaidheeswaran mentioned of his visit to Mangaluru along with his family, he was invited to Sahyadri for an interaction session in the best interest of Faculty and Research Scholars.

On moving around the campus and visiting the various initiatives made available to the students, he expressed his immense pleasure to view these activities at Sahyadri. Mr. Vaidheeswaran has served in various departments of the Ministry of Govt. Of India like Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Industrial Policy & Promotions, Ministry of Finance for Project Appraisals and currently posted in the Ministry of Science & Technology.

While interacting with the Senior Faculty and the Research Scholars, Mr. Vaidheeswaran, appraised the various modest schemes available for students and faculty to be utilized for their research assignments and also to support innovative ideas. He also gave inputs on the fiscal incentives given by the Govt. Of India in order to support research. He spoke about the highly sophisticated Laboratories and equipments funded by the Govt. which can be further utilized by us to conduct experiments on these rarely available machines/Labs.

While concluding the session, Dr. Manjappa S urged faculty and research scholars to send quality proposals to DSIR for funding their research.

Faculty from the Dept of Humanities clears University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) Exam

Faculty from the Dept of Humanities clears University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) Exam Prof. Akshaya Shetty of the Dept of Humanities has cleared UGC-NET Exam, held in Dec’19.

Prof Akshaya has completed her Masters in Literature as well as Masters in Business Administration. Besides, she has presented Papers in National and State Level Seminars. She has also published two books, a collection of poems, out of which her second book, ‘Baduku Bhavada Tene’ received National Level Award.

UGC NET is a National Level Exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.

Students of Mechanical Engineering are selected to represent Dakshina Kannada District for various events in the State Level Yuvajanotsava to be held at Shivamogga

Two students of 4th Year Mechanical Engineering have been selected to represent Dakshina Kannada District in the State Level Yuvajanotsava to be held at Shivamogga during 3rd to 5th Jan’20.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Prof. Ramya K has completed her Bachelor of Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur and M.Tech from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. She has 7 years of teaching experience. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at NITK, Surathkal under the guidance of Dr. K S Babu Narayan, Dr. Katta Venkataramana and Dr. Premanand Shenoy.

Prof. Ramya She has a few national and international publications to her credit and her area of expertise is Structural Engineering. She is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

Introduction of the Mentees:
Mulla Mohammed is from Udupi. He has pursued his schooling from Green Valley National School. He likes to play football, cricket, chess etc. He has played Football in District Level during his PUC. He aspires to become the best civil engineer and serve mankind.

Karan S Tandel is from Karwar. He has pursued his schooling from Bal Mandir School and PUC from Premier Science & Commerce PU College, Karwar. His passion is to play Cricket and Volleyball. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.

Vaishnavi D K is from Mangaluru. She has pursued her schooling from St. Mary’s High School and PUC from St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru. She has secured 1st place in National Level Powerlifting competition held at Pune. She has secured 1st Place in VTU Powerlifting, Weightlifting and also Athletic Meet. She is a Powerlifter by passion. She wishes to join Indian Navy and serve the nation.
