Chairman flagged off the Half Marathon ‘Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020’ alongside Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aaditya Uddhav Thackeray

Tata Mumbai Marathon Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation flagged off the Half Marathon event of ‘Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020’ alongside Aditya Uddhav Thackeray, Cabinet Minister of Tourism & Environment, Govt. of Maharashtra, held on 19th Jan’2020.

The Tata Mumbai Marathon is amongst the top 10 marathons in the world and has truly put India on the global map of distance running. This event is renowned as not only the largest marathon in Asia but also the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent.

Live-Musical-Concert-1 Live-Musical-Concert-1 Live Musical Concert “Sangeetha Sanjhe” by the legendary multilingual singer Dr. S P Balasubrahmanyam was held at the Sahyadri River-Side Ground on 19th Jan’2020. This event was organized by Swami Enterprises as a fundraiser for Karnataka Flood Relief.

Live-Musical-Concert-1 Ms. Prasanna Bhandary, Secretary, Bhandary Foundation was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural function. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation was felicitated during the concluding ceremony.

On this occasion a great crowd thronged the River Side Ground to witness the mesmerizing performance of Dr. S P Balasubrahmanyam and his team. The Music Icon enthralled the audience with some of his evergreen songs.

The crowd became completely oblivious of the surroundings as they engaged themselves in toe-tapping to the rhythm of the ebullient songs that filled the cool evening air.

sbp Dr. Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam mostly referred to as S. P. B. continues to enthral millions just as he did right here in Sahyadri, enthralling thousands who had gathered!

Dr. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam is a playback singer, music director and much more. He has garnered six National Film Awards for his works in four different languages apart from numerous other state awards.

Dr. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam seems to sing, even when he talks! Whatever be the song or the language, being an Indian, there’s no way one wouldn’t have heard Dr. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam sing, because he’s sung more than 40,000 songs!

Despite a fabulous musical career spanning over 4 decades, SPB remains down to earth. “But my goal was not to become a singer at all. It was an accident. I used to sing quite well, yes, I agree. But my goal was to become an engineer; never a filmi guy,” he insists.

Dr. SPB is honoured with the Guinness World Record for singing the most film songs. He is a recipient of Civilian Awards such as Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan from the Government of India.

MBA Faculty secures 4th Rank in her M.Com Mangalore University Exams 2018-19

 Monisha In the recently declared Rank List, Prof. Monisha Shetty, Dept. of Business Administration has secured 4th rank in M.Com in Mangalore University Exams held during 2018-19 with a CGPA of 8.15.

Monisha has also cleared UGC-NET and presented papers in State and National conferences. She has completed her 1.5 years of CA article-ship under CA Rayappa Nayak and Company. She has her Masters in Finance from Dr. P Dayananda Pai – P Sathish Pai Government First Grade College, Mangaluru and Bachelors in Commerce from Canara College, Mangaluru.

Engineering Students attend KSHAMATA GMCS Camp held at World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru

vineeth vineth Engineering Students attended a General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) Camp, one of the best camps in the country, held at World Konkani Centre, Mangaluru, during 17th to 19th Jan’2020.

The camp organised by Konkani Student’s Higher Achievement Motivation and Training Academy (KSHAMATA), is all about working in a team and achieving perfection. It is focused on Communications, Entrepreneurship, Working with the People, Activities of Effective Reasoning and Functioning. There were 109 students participating from various colleges across the country, out of which the team representing Sahyadri stood out as the best.

The students had an opportunity to work with different teams in different events like street plays, pinwheel projects and so on. The first place for Street Play was bagged by Mr. Vineet Nayak S and team. Similarly, in Pinwheel Competition, First Place was bagged by Mr. Uttam Kini and team. The Sahyadri Team worked with passion and enthusiasm.

As a part of the Concluding Session, Mr. Vineet the student of Computer Science & Engineering delivered an inspiring Talk, thus proving that whatever Sahyadrians do, they do it with fervour.

KSHAMATA or Konkani Student’s Higher Achievement Motivation and Training Academy, is a set of learning and experiential outcomes which defines the goals of World Konkani Centre.

Head of the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering attends IEEE AGM Meet

IEEE AGM Dr. Shamanth Rai, Head of the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering attended the IEEE AGM Meet held at MIT Manipal, on 18th Jan’20.

Dr. Shamanth presented the activities conducted by the IEEE Student Branch- Sahyadri in the Year 2019. He also envisaged the plan of the prestigious IEEE I2CONNECT-2020, an inter-institute Project Exhibition, to be held at the Campus.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Prof. Chandra Singh has obtained M.Tech Degree in Digital Electronics and Communication from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. He obtained B.E. Degree in Electronics & Communication from Srinivas School of Engineering, Mukka. Prof. Chandra Singh has co-authored Text book entitled "Survivability Techniques in Optical Networks” published by Studium Press (India). He has published about 15 Papers which are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. He has received First Best Paper award on the topic entitled “Survivability Standard Techniques Implementation in Optical Networks: An Overview” at Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur in Optical Wireless Technologies (OWT 2018) in Springer Lecture Note Series. He has received Second Best Paper award on the topic entitled “Optical Networks: Aspects and Prospects” at Dronocharya College of Engineering in ICCC8 2018 in Taylor Francis Book Chapter. His areas of interest are Optical Networking and communication, wireless communication and Image processing. He has served as IEEE Student Branch President of Nitte for the Academic Year 2016-17. He is a reviewer of IEEE and Springer.

Introduction of the Mentees:
Anmol Soni is from Delhi. She pursued her schooling from Navy Children School, Goa and PUC from Navy Children School, Delhi. Her hobbies are listening to music, reading novels and collecting coins.

Sauhard N K is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Chinmaya High School and PUC from Vikas PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are reading novels and playing football. He has won several prizes in quiz and badminton.

Siddesh Uday Naik is from Karwar. He pursued his schooling from Amritha Vidyalam High School and PUC from St. Joseph’s PU College, Karwar. His hobbies are writing stories and collecting stamps.

U Shrinivas is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Managuda English Medium High School and PUC from St. Aloysius P U College, Mangalore. His hobbies are reading novels and playing football.
