Sahyadri’s Training Placement & Career Guidance (TPCG) Cell signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mr. Manoj Gasavi - Branch Manager along with Mr. Shijomon Yesudhas, Sr. Executive, Business Development, of IDP Education India Private Limited.


The role of IDP:
• Conducting education fair once or twice a year wherein representatives of universities in US, UK, New Zealand, Canada and Australia will participate;
• Conducting Seminars on IELTS & Overseas Studies;
• Inviting Sahyadri College students to education fairs and events at Mangaluru;
• Guest talks by eminent professors and scholars from international universities with whom they are partnered.

MBA Students Recruited by Manipal Technologies, Manipal

Ms. Poojary Deeksha Raju , Mr. Pawan Kumar S and Mr. Sujith Chandrashekhar Hegde have been recruited as Management Trainee-Digital Solutions, Management Trainee-Stores and Management Trainee-SCM by Manipal Technologies, Manipal in the recently conducted Recruitment Drive.

Interactive Session on Experience Economy Driving, Entrepreneurship and Innovation

A session on “Experience Economy driving Entrepreneurship & Innovation” was conducted at the zonal level in association with SHINE Foundation and K-tech NAIN, at Sahyadri. The Resource Persons were Mr. Uday Birje, Co-Founder & Director, Think Street Technology and Mr. B S Baliga, Mentor for Change, Atal Innovation Mission.

The session was primarily focused on conveying the message that “experiences are the new products”. The attendees were briefed as to how associating an experience with a service adds additional weightage to the service and increases longevity of a start-up. Discussions were held on innovation and ideas were sparked regarding different ways to innovate.

There was a discussion on the importance of start-ups and innovations being a major part of every start-up. A deep dive was conducted on topics like The Experience Economy, Sharing Economy, Digital Economy and Co-Working Economy.

Post this; Mr. Baliga gave an insight into various key issues like, opportunities for start-ups, different funds available, the importance of having a mentor for every start-up and the government’s initiatives to support start-ups etc.

Students working on various launch pads and startups in the college, and also the students and faculty from Canara Engineering College attended the session.

Dean–Strategic Planning invited as Resource Person for a Workshop on ‘Youth for the Nation’, at Virajpet

Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean – Strategic Planning & Faculty of the Dept. of Business Administration was invited as a Resource Person, along with Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor, for a Workshop on ‘Youth for the Nation’. The said Workshop was organised by its Possible Youth Charitable Trust®, Virajpet, Kodagu.

The inaugural function was graced by Dr. T K Bopaiah, Principal, GFGC, Virajpet and Mr. A M Shridhar, Chief Officer, Virajpet Town Panchayath.

Prof. Ramesh K G spoke about the importance of Service Attitude and Nation Building where he shared his experiences as a student volunteer. Mr Ankith S Kumar took up session on Youth and Drugs and The Sense of Enquiry and Scientific Temperament among Youth.

The Workshop was organised by a student named Mr Shibin who had attended the LDP organised by the Department of Business Administration. Having got inspired by the programme, he invited the faculty to address the students in his home town. Apart from various dignitaries who attended the Workshop, more than 100 students from different UG colleges also attended and gained insights.

MBA Faculty attend MSME Financial Options Seminar at Ocean Pearl

Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty and Prof. Akshatha of the Department of Administration have attended MSME Financial Options Seminar held on 21st Jan’2020 at Ocean Pearl, Mangaluru. This Seminar was conducted in joint collaboration with FICCI and State Bank of India. Around 200 delegates witnessed the seminar.

State Bank and FICCI have initiated many such activities in order to encourage the small scale industries to cherish and contribute to the Indian economy. .

Sahyadri 10K Run Mangaluru – One Mile at a Time, My Race My Time!

Having covered four categories of ‘Sahyadri 10K Run’ we come to the fifth category, the “10K Run – Only for Students”. This is coined exclusively keeping in mind all students of professional and technical education including engineering, medical, nursing, physiotherapy students between 18 to 25 years of age.

Early morning exercises boot your energy. Running keeps you on the go and makes you glow. Technical and professional students are pretty logical and highly intellectual for they have their thinking caps on all the time.

The well-known Olympian Vandana Shanbagh is going to participate in the Sahyadri 10K Run. As an athlete herself she encourages all to participate and wished that this event will be a grand success in creating awareness of health through fitness.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Smitha obtained her B.E Degree in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, Puttur and M.Tech in Structural Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the field of Earthquake Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Premanand Shenoy, Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering.

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Mr. Mohizam Mohammed is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Kerala Samaja English Medium School and PUC from Milagres PU College, Mangaluru. Philately is one of his primary hobbies. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.

• Mr. Hasan is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Sharada Vidyalaya and PUC from St. Aloysius P.U College, Mangaluru. Playing badminton and singing are his main interests in addition to which he is a good orator too. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.

• Mr. Nihal is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling and PUC from St. Aloysius Institutions, Mangaluru. Listening to music is one of his primary hobbies. He aspires to become an Entrepreneur.
