A Vibrant Four-Day Winter Camp was held for Young Kids and Teens at Sahyadri

DTI Labz Private Limited, a Sahyadri Start-up organized a Winter Camp for kids and teens aged 8 to 16 years, at the campus during 27th to 30 Dec’19.

The Camp focused on making young change-makers, orators, problem solvers, creative thinkers and prolific minds essential for the rapidly growing technological world. Around 39 students participated and got absorbed into the camp ambience thus becoming enthusiastic campers.

Day 1 focused on Communication and Collaborative Skills. The campers were given ideas on how to write a storyboard that can be communicated to an audience. This was followed by a theatrical session which aimed at making the campers understand the importance of non-verbal communication.

On Day 2 the focus was on Finance and Scientific Literacy. The day started off with team building activities. The purpose was to understand team bonding. This was followed by a "Make your own Restaurant" activity aimed at teaching business functions to the campers by managing their own finance.

Parallel sessions on Gaming, Electronics, Automobiles, and Aeromodelling were conducted in the afternoon. Social Innovation and Ideation Session was conducted on Day 3, which focused on sensitizing the campers to the problems prevailing in their local regions, and building creative solutions.

Post this; the campers were taken on a field trip to State Bank, Mangaluru, to identify social problems. Thereafter, the campers had a brainstorming session to curative their ideas. The day ended with a 60-Second Pitch to other participants and parents.

The last day i.e. Day 4 of the Winter Camp focused on Rapid Prototyping and Presentation. The campers were able to build their ideas in a span of 3 hours under the guidance of the mentors. The post-lunch session began with a magic show by two young campers. This was followed by project presentation and a campus tour, which the campers thoroughly enjoyed.

Finally, the Winter Camp was brought to a conclusion with a Valedictory Programme.

At the end of the Camp the students indulgently expressed that it was an experience of exploring beyond limits and helping them reach greater heights.

Sahyadri Multi-Gymnasium Trainer and Staff in the Dept. of Mathematics outshines with Accolades during the Year 2019-2020

Mr. Jagadish Poojary, Sahyadri Multi-Gymnasium Trainer and Staff of Mathematics Dept, outshines with several accolades to his credit.

In appreciation for creating World Record in receiving numerous State and National Level titles, his name gains entry into the ‘Universal Achievers Book of Record and future Kalam’s book of Record – 2019’. Similarly, for his individual achievements his name has entered into the ‘Karnataka Achievers Book of Record Holder-2019’.

Besides, Mr. Jagadish also won the distinct ‘Madilu Sanman Purskar – 2019’ and the ‘Visva Kannada Samaja Seva Prashasthi – 2019-20’.

Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Harinakshi C has pursued B.E from PA College of Engineering (PACE), Mangaluru and M.Tech from SDIT, Mangaluru. She has 2 years of teaching and 1.8 years of IT Industry experience. Her research area includes Data Mining, Data Security etc.

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Alen Joseph is from Udupi. He pursued his schooling from Sacred Heart School and PUC from Christ King PU College, Karkala. His hobbies include playing badminton, football, tennis etc. He is keen on exploring new technologies and interested to learn networking. He aspires to excel in the field of Cyber Security.

• Jackson Lobo is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Holy Saviour School, Agrar and PUC from SVS PU College, Bantwal. His hobbies include reading encyclopedia, trekking, digital art and learning about Xenoarchaeology. He aspires to become a successful IT Engineer.

• Soujanya M is from Mangaluru. She pursued her schooling from Vidyadayinee English Medium School and PUC from Govinda Dasa PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are listening to music, dancing and gardening. She aspires to work in Accenture and at the same time pursue her passion for singing.

• Ayesha Thoufira is from Mangaluru. She pursued her schooling from BGS Education Centre and PUC from Vikas Pre-University College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are reading books. She is interested in knowing different languages. She has cleared Drawing Grade Exam. She aspires to become a successful IT Engineer.

• Keerthi Kamath is from Kota. She pursued her schooling from SDM English Medium School and PUC from SDM PU College, Ujire. Her hobbies are dancing, playing chess and listening to music. She is interested in dancing, coding and photography. She aspires to work in Google.

• Mamatha is from Kundapur. She pursued her schooling from S. V. English Medium School, Gangolli and PUC from R N Shetty PU College, Kundapur. Her hobbies are reading newspaper, listening to music, and playing ball badminton. She has participated in State Level Ball Badminton Tournament. She aspires to become a successful IT Engineer.

• Gowthami G Bhat hails from Chikkamagaluru. She pursued her schooling from Poorna Prajna Education Center, Sangameshwarapet and PUC from Expert PU College, Mangaluru. She is interested in dancing, listening to music and reading novels. Her aspiration is to become a successful IT Engineer.
