Dr. S. Manjappa has joined Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management as Director of Research and Consultancy. Dr. S. Manjappa is a retired Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry/Environmental Science & Technology, Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology, Davangere and former Special Officer (R & D), Visvesvaraya Technological University, Regional Center, Bangalore. He has expertise in Water & Waste Water Management, Treatment and Recycling, Air and Water Quality Modeling, and Monitoring. His active involvement in research has facilitated him Chief Investigator for monitoring quality of air, water, bio monitoring, various rivers and Environmental Emission Monitoring Status of different streams amounting to more than Rupees 4 crores. He was on the Expert Appraisal Committee for Assessment and Evaluation of Infrastructure projects and also projects requiring clearance under Coastal Regulation Zone. He is also a Govt. Analyst of the Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi, Chairman of Think Tank Committee and Technical Advisory Committee, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore. He has guided eleven Ph. D. students and another five are still under his guidance. Dr. Manjappa was Commissioner for District Consumer Disputes & Redressal Forum, Davangere. He has valuated more than 500 Environmental Impact Assessment reports as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee & Ministry of Ecology & Forest Committees which include industries like distillery, sugar units, pharmaceutical, ports, airways, petrochemicals, paper and pulp, and highways. It is an ardent wish that all the faculty and students capitalize on his vast research expertise and experience for projects, paper presentations and guidance.

Prajna A. with 75.56% has topped the Sahyadri College in the MBA, Semester II Examination of 2014 -15 held by VTU. Renuka Shenoy obtained the second position in the college with 74.22% while Ronsom Sunil Menezes with 72.78% stands third. Out of one hundred and seventeen students who sat for the examination, nine secured a first class with distinction, sixty-two secured a first class and thirty students a second class, bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 86.30%.
