MCA Semester II Results: Sahyadri 97.50%

Priya with 83.43% has topped the Sahyadri College in the MCA, Semester II Examination of 2014 -15 held by VTU. Sumithra V. Bhandarkar obtained the second position in the college with 81.81% while Pushpa P. and Abdulla Safha Ahmed with 80.48% stand third. Out of forty students who sat for the examination, thirty secured a first class with distinction, eight secured a first class and one student a second class, bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 97.50%.

Ashwitha Shetty with 80.57% has topped the Sahyadri College in the MCA, Semester IV Examination of 2014 -15 held by VTU. Junaid K. A. obtained the second position in the college with 79.81% while Prajwal with 79.24% stands third. Out of thirty-three students who sat for the examination, twenty-eight secured a first class with distinction and four students secured a first class, bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 96.97%.

Bridge Course for New Entrants Commences in the Campus

The three-week bridge course for the new entrants to engineering commenced with the personality development sessions by the resource person Mr. Chethan Ram.

Mr. Chethan Ram explained what personality is and its dimensions with some examples. He spoke about the journey towards one’s success and difference between dream and goal. He also stressed upon how to raise personality from one level to other. He threw light upon the importance and differences of vision and mission statements. He showed different ways of enhancing knowledge and core competency. In the post lunch session, he discussed the important qualities of a person to be No.1 in life. He conducted different activities and involved the audience to give the essence of the concepts.

Mr. Chethan Ram R. A. is Founder & Managing Director, Academy of Management & Corporate Attitude Development (AMCAD) an Institution for Human Potential Development.

He is an Excel Graduate, an International Certification for Training from JCI University, USA. With 25+ years of experience in Personality Development, he has conducted hundreds of training programs all over the country, for all categories of people. Author of several books, audio tapes and CDs on Personality Development, Mr. Chethan Ram is also a Trainer for competitive exams like KAS, IAS, CAT, MAT, and KPSC & UPSC.

Orientation Programme for Parents of New Entrants

The Orientation Programme for parents of new entrants to the Engineering stream was held at the Sahyadri Campus.

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, gave an overview of the college background. He quoted with examples how the institution benefits from the hard work and the dedication of the students. He spoke about the importance of value added courses and also requested the parents to encourage their wards to take part in every opportunity provided. To make the students more financially responsible he urged the parents to take up educational loans.

Dr. Umesh M. Bhushi, Principal, addressed the parents and urged them to look beyond academics to shape a better future for their wards. Professor Umashankar B.S. Dean (Academics), addressed the parents on academic preparation and touched upon the finer details in the academic system. He also requested the parents to keep track of the academic performance of their wards.

Mr. Mithun Ullal, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, gave a presentation about the college and a comprehensive overview about the various activities in the college.

Professor Rashmi Bhandary, HOD, Department of Placement & Placement Training, gave insights about the importance of placements activities. She also stressed on the importance of the preparations for placements from the first year itself. Dr. Molly Chaudhuri, HOD, Department of Training, gave an overview of the different training activities.

Prof. Dayanand Shetty, Director STEP & Professor, Electronics & Communications Engineering, spoke on Intel Incubation Centre established in the college and also about the entrepreneurship activities held in the college under the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). Dr. A. P. Manu, HOD, Department of Information Science Engineering laid out the schedule for Microsoft certification courses that were being offered in the institution and briefed on the official collaboration of Sahyadri with Microsoft through The Microsoft Innovation Centre set up in the Campus.
