Bridge Course gains momentum for New Entrants to Semester I Engineering Courses

With the two-day Personality Development Training by Mr. Chethan Ram just concluding, students are now fully immersed in other topics which will enable a smooth transition to the Engineering stream. The syllabi for subjects such as Mathematics, Computer Science and English apart from other co-curricular activities will be dealt with over the next sixteen days by relevant in-house faculty members.

The syllabus for Mathematics includes concepts learnt at the PU level as well as additional concepts which are essential pre-requisites for the engineering course. Orientation to Computers is aimed at familiarizing the fundamentals of programming languages thereby enabling them to write small programmes in C language which is a part of I year curriculum for all branches. The module on English is aimed at making the students articulate in English, thereby increasing their comprehension level and self-confidence. The sessions in the afternoon will be on Sports and Cultural activities.

A sound grasp of the fundamentals of the engineering subjects lays the strong foundation for the entire four year programme. Experience has shown that students who underwent the bridge course have fared extremely well in VTU Examinations. Results improved from 56% to 85% in the first attempt. Students who have attended the bridge course in the previous years have appreciated this initiative. Industry personnel like HRs, CEO’s who visit the Institute regularly have acclaimed it as an eye-opener and it boosts confidence levels significantly.
