Mrs. Sahana Bhat has joined the Department of Information Science & Engineering as an Assistant Professor. She obtained her B. E. degree from Alvas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Moodbidri and M.Tech. from NMAMIT, Nitte, Her area of specialisation is Computer Science & Engineering

Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery Pvt. Ltd., (KTTM) will be visiting the Campus on Saturday, the 11th of July, 2015 for recruitment of diploma holders of mechanical and automobile engineering of the 2015 batch. The company is looking to recruit Apprentice Trainees. The recruitment process will have a technical test, a preliminary interview which will be conducted in the Campus. The final Interview will be held at the company factory for shortlisted candidates.

Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery Pvt. Ltd., (KTTM) is a Joint Venture Company promoted by the Kirloskar Group of India and Toyota Group of Japan. They manufacture high-speed ring frame spinning machines for the domestic and international market and auto components for Toyota Group of Industries, Japan and this is a 100% EOU (Export Oriented Unit). The company presently is on an expansion spree and is expanding the business to manufacture engines for Toyota Group of Industries.

Tomorrow at Sahyadri

A two-day Faculty Development Programme “Winning Ways” will be held in the Campus. The programme is scheduled from 9:30 A. M. to 5.30 P.M. in the Sahyadri Hall, ground floor. Mr. Ram Kumar Seshu, Author & Founder, Born To Win Learning Services, Bangalore and Mr. Srinath Birur, Co-Chairman, Skill & H.R. Committee, FKCCI, Bangalore, will be the resource persons for the two-day programme.

Sahyadri Photonic Research Group Members Visit TIFR Mumbai


Prof. Dr. Richard Pinto, Director-CENT, Dr. Niraj Joshi, Dr. Navin N. Bappalige and Dr. Jayarama A., Sahyadri Research Group, visited Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR),Mumbai. They met TIFR Research Scientist Prof. Dr. Shriganesh S. Prabhu, FOTON group and had intense and fruitful discussion about the molecular level detection using THz radiation through the ongoing collaborative research project.

Prof. Dr. Shriganesh S. Prabhu is one of the Co-principal investigators of the DST-Nanomission Proposal submitted by Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management on Prototype development of Photonic Sensors for Bio-molecular detection using CW-THz Radiation, total funding being INR 2.6 crores. Dr. Niraj Joshi is working on this project as a Principal Investigator. Dr. Prabhu is among the foremost experts in the area of THz radiation.

Photonic sensors are among the latest developments in single molecular detection in the area of bio-medical engineering and detection of explosives. Among the many possible applications of these sensors early detection of cancer (molecular level) is one.

Nagadeeksha with 80.13% has topped the Sahyadri College in the Semester VIII Computer Science & Engineering Examination of 2014-15 held by VTU. Akshitha M. C. obtained the second position in the college with 79.87% while Ashwini N. with 79.73% stands third. One hundred and twenty-four students took the examination with fifty-five students securing a distinction, fifty-five students a first class and three students a second class bringing the overall percentage score of the department to 91.13%.
