HOD of Information Science & Engineering Successfully defends PhD Thesis

BOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship Fair Prof. Shamanth Rai, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Information Science & Engineering defended his PhD thesis titled - “Performance Evaluation of Localization and Topology Control in Wireless Sensor Networks using Rigid Graphs” at Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad. The research work was guided by Dr. Shirshu Varma, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology- Allahabad. The external examiner was Prof. Chiranjeev Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad.

During research work, Prof. Shamanth Rai has published his work in four SCI/E indexed journals published by Springer, InderScience etc. He has one book chapter in Taylor & Francis, CRC press. He has also one publication in IEEE international conference.

Prof. Shamanth Rai has thanked Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Secretary Mrs. Prassanna Bhandary, Deeksha Bhandary and all the trustees of Bhandary Foundation for their continuous support. He has rendered his gratitude towards Dr. D L Prabhakara, Director, Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Prof. Balakrishna S S, Vice-Principal, Dr. J V Gorbal, Dean Academics, Prof. Sudheer Shetty, Dean Examinations, Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director Research & Consultancy, fellow colleagues, teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute for their motivation and encouragement throughout his research work.

Fourth Orientation session for the Parents of New Entrants to Engineering

Fourth Orientation session for the Parents of New Entrants to Engineering Fourth batch of Orientation session for the parents of new entrants to the engineering stream was held in the Campus. Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, extended a warm welcome and addressed the gathered parents, providing them an insight to the overall growth of the college since the inception. He stated that engineering is a process of learning the concepts, rather than only studying. He called upon the parents to motivate their ward to learn new things using facilities which are available in the college adding that the institution is just a dead infrastructure to which only the students can bring life & make a difference with an impact.

He shared some of his personal views asking parents to develop a friendly relationship with their ward and also closely monitor every activity of theirs. He placed the Placement statistics before the parents including the highest pay package. He mentioned about the platform provided to the students to compete at the national and international level events. He also advised the parents to make their children self-dependent and suggested to avail educational loan in order to make their child financially responsible. He gave additional details about the E-buzz, E-magazine and Newsletter. He also briefed about the dress code that every student must follow in the campus.

Day One of Bridge Course for Engineering Students of 2017 Batch Twelve-Day Bridge Course for Engineering Students of 2017 Batch kickstarts in Sahyadri Campus. The first day commenced with an introductory session by Mr. Johnson Tellis, Founder of DREAMERS, briefing the students on the qualities, a good engineer needs to instill in them. The introductory session was followed by an inspiring speech by Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal. He conveyed the importance of making education enjoyable and practical. He said - "We don't get a second chance to make a first impression'' and urged the participants to live every second to its fullest. The afternoon session entailed activities that strengthened the Team Spirit.

Health & Counseling Centre

Health & Counseling Centre will be active on all working days in the Campus. Students, as well as, teaching and Non-teaching staff can avail services relating to physical and mental health care. Services like counseling, emergency first aid, medical referrals and consultancy, physical examinations, relaxation therapy, Yoga Therapy, CBT and Basic Health Care will be provided.
