Delegates from NITI Aayog along with Registrar of Mangalore University visited Sahyadri Delegates from NITI Aayog along with Registrar of Mangalore University visited Sahyadri Mr. Ratan P Watal, Principal Adviser (Social Sector), NITI Aayog and also the Member Secretary, Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister (EAC-PM); Mr. B N Satpathy, Senior Consultant, EAC-PM, NITI Aayog; Mr. K Rajeshwar Rao, Representative, NITI Aayog along with Prof. B S Nagendra Prakash, Registrar & Dr. B H Shekar from the Mangalore University visited Sahyadri and interacted with the Management and Faculty.

Mr. Ratan P Watal, a retired IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre was a Former Finance Secretary. While addressing the gathering, Mr. Watal gave a glimpse of the Main office, the Chairperson, its members, the functions and the role of NITI, Aayog. He expressed his intensions to outreach with Universities and students thereby taking forward the whole agenda of cashless economy. He has learnt of the rich tradition of Banking in Mangalore and proposes that the Banking institutions, academic institutions along with their students should get to field, find the problems and also get to the solutions to the problems related to Cashless Economy. Before closing his speech, he narrated a story which brought out the essence of ‘Attitude’ that makes a lot of difference in the way we view things/challenges. He urged the gathering to inspire self to find solutions to the downtrodden people that in return give a sense of accomplishment.

He also said that the Job Market these days is tough; however there is enough scope for innovation which shall overcome this challenge. He appreciated Sahyadri for the amazing work it has put in for its uniqueness and was sure that Sahyadri would soon gain lot of prominence in the years to come.

Prof. B S Nagendra Prakash expressed how comfortable he felt as at home visiting Sahyadri since he is from the Engineering background. He also mentioned about his association with Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director-Research & Consultancy of Sahyadri. He said that - World is no more a far of place as there is more accessibility and availability of information. He appreciated the Management of Sahyadri for its involvement in the in-house mechanism for individuality and very few institutions do that. He said that within the framework of Mangalore University, Sahyadri and the mentorship of NITI Aayog we can make a difference to the society by working on time bound initiatives. He also expressed his support to forming the State-of-the-Art Research facility in Sahyadri Campus and strengthen the bondage by modulating research programmes and activities in our campus.

Delegates from NITI Aayog along with Registrar of Mangalore University visited Sahyadri Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary while speaking said that he believes in interaction with people rather than reading about them hence invited such renowned people to the campus so that his team could interact and learn from them.

Seven-Day AICTE sponsored FDP on Student Induction Concludes The Seven-Day AICTE sponsored Faculty Development Programme on ‘Student Induction’ which began on 16th July, 2018 concluded on 22nd of July, 2018. The workshop was attended by 40 faculty members from various engineering colleges of Karnataka. This workshop was organized to equip the faculty with the knowledge base and skill that is necessary in order to conduct the mandatory Twenty One-Day Student’s Induction Programme on universal human values. Sahyadri had the honour of hosting this programme on behalf of AICTE. The Valedictory programme was graced by the presence of Dr. N H Siddalingaswamy, Director, E-Governance Cell of AICTE as the Chief Guest. Prof. Shreenath, Chief Operating Officer of Sahyadri presented the brief report of the 7-day event after which the delegates shared their opinion and feedback of the programme. They appreciated the intentions of the training and the manner in which it was organized by Sahyadri. While addressing the gathering, Dr. N H Siddalingaswamy expressed his happiness about the success of the training programme. He urged each one to be extraordinary teachers with extra efforts. He also explained about the various schemes that AICTE has for the faculty who wish to pursue research and publications. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal in his presidential address congratulated the delegates for the successful completion of the FDP.

Infosys Hackathon Contest Infosys HackwithInfy Round 2 was held at Sahyadri. A total of 11 students were shortlisted to move up to the round 2 of the contest. It was an online challenge of 3 hours, containing 3 problem statements to be solved within the time frame.

Top 100 finalists who clear Round 2 will get an opportunity to compete in the Grand Finale at Infosys Pune and win a pre-placement interview (PPI) for the Power Programmer role. The next top 500 finalists will get a pre-placement interview (PPI) for the Systems Engineer role.

HackwithInfy does not only provide the perfect stepping stone for students to explore their passion for programming, but also gives them a chance to compete and win cash prizes worth INR 350,000 and an opportunity to get a pre-placement interview for different roles at Infosys.

Student Counsellor invited as a Resource Person for the Regional Level NSS Leadership Camp

Student Counsellor invited as a Resource Person for the Regional Level NSS Leadership Camp Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor was invited by Mangalore University - NSS division as a Resource Person for the Annual Regional Level NSS Leadership and RD Selection Camp organized at Mangalore University Campus, Konaje . He conducted a session on “Stress Response and Relief” for a total of 350 undergraduate students of NSS who had attended the programme from all the affiliated colleges of Mangalore University. Mr. Ankith S. Kumar demonstrated various simple techniques of stress relief such as 4-7-5 breathing techniques, touch therapy, aromatherapy, colour therapy, sound and music therapy and Dance/Movement therapy.
