SCII team visits Sahyadri

SCII team visits Sahyadri Mr Junichi Kamiyama Director and Mr. Alexander Varkey, CEO System Consultant Information India (P) Ltd, Tumkur a Japanese based company visited Sahyadri on 25th July 2019. They interacted with the in-house industries, start-ups, LLPs and the placement department. They expressed their happiness in understanding the process that is followed in the college. They also expressed their interest in collaborating with the college for various activities in the coming future.

Sahyadrian Recruited by Bosch Limited

Sahyadrian Recruited by Bosch Limited Ms. Gowri Ganesh from the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2019 batch was recruited by Bosch Limited for the position of Graduate Apprentice with a package of Rs.4.00 Lakh per Annum. The final interview was held on 5th July 2019, in Bengaluru.

Ms. Gowri Ganesh has also represented VTU south zone national in volleyball in the year 2017 & 2018, Handball in the year 2019. She has also been a part of the inter zonal Volleyball, Throwball, Handball, and Athletics.

So far, we have given brief introductions of the unique distinguished personalities who will be speaking at the upcoming TEDxSCEM 2019 event. We now introduce renowned artistes from the cultural domains. They will enliven the audiences with their cultural extravaganza.

Cultural performances at TEDxSCEM 2019 Adarsh Pakkala
Mr. Adarsh Pakkala is a Yakshagana dancer who has been awarded as "Yaksha Prathibe" by Bharath Friends Club, "Yaksha Sindhu" in State level Chutuku Sahithya Sammelana and "Yaksha Kirita" by Bava Beedu Gopi Charitable Trust. With more than 100 performances so far, he is a true spectacle to watch.

Team Propoganda is a dance crew based in Mangalore. They stand out as a group who are trained in Bolly Hop, which is a perfect blend of urban and western hip-hop moves with the twist of Bollywood aura to it. The team has performed at various events and competitions in an around the area.

Cultural performances at TEDxSCEM 2019  Artbeats
The winners of Mangalore's Got Talent - Season One, Team Artbeats, is a group of a flutist, a guitarist, a cajonist and a speed painter. The team believes in exploring the very essence of art and stands by it. They have performed in various competitions, social awareness campaigns and have bagged several titles in the University and State level events.


Team ‘Formula Sahyadri’ in SUPRA SAE INDIA 2019

Team ‘Formula Sahyadri’ in SUPRA SAE INDIA 2019 A twenty-member team “Formula Sahyadri” participated in "SUPRA SAEINDIA 2019" – a national level student version of the Formula Car Racing Competition held at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The team cleared majority of the tests such as presentation (design, business & cost), technical inspection, safety scrutiny test, weight test, noise test and the tilt test and performed at its optimum.

The team was led by Praveen K.P. and Mr. Kiran Prakash & Mr. Rakshith H.S., Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering were faculty advisors for the team. The objective of the competition is for students to design and fabricate a 600 cc (max) concept race car worthy of mass-production by a hypothetical manufacturing firm. The teams are evaluated first on the car’s dynamic performance in several gruelling tests. They must also present a business strategy with cost analysis and marketing plans to “sell” the concept to a judging panel of hypothetical manufacturers.

Orientation program for Third Semester students of Electronics & Communication EngineeringOrientation program for Third Semester students of Electronics & Communication Engineering Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized an Orientation program for 3rd semester students which commenced on 24th July 2019.

On Day 1 i.e. 24th July 2019, Dr. Ashwath Rao, Head of the Department gave a brief overview of the department, verticals, thrust areas, NPTEL/MOOC courses and the mapping of various subjects to the thrust areas. He also gave an insight on how the Industry Connect Courses has been evolved and how they are mapped to future Skills. He emphasized the students to actively involve and take maximum benefit from the industry connect courses.

A brief introduction regarding communication and control system vertical viz, Elements of communication system, types of communication and applications of communication was presented by the faculty members. A video on the evolution of communication from stone age to modern age enlightened the students. The industry connect coordinator presented the objectives of the IC course and explained the three thrust areas such as Computer Communication Networks, Digital Communication and Control Systems with an example and its industrial applications.

A talk was delivered on Introduction to Embedded Systems, Types of Embedded Systems and its applications, introduction to 8051 Microcontroller and its applications, Electronics in Automobiles, Real Time Systems, Smart Systems and Smart home appliances was presented by the faculty members. The team emphasized importance of programming language and various simulation tools.

The industry connect coordinator presented the objectives of the IC course and explained the three thrust areas such as Microcontroller, Automotive Electronics and Real Time Systems with an example and its industrial applications.

IBM Final Assessment - Campus connect

IBM Final Assessment - Campus connectIBM Final Assessment - Campus connect IBM conducted the final assessment for Core Java and Testing batch on 24th July 2019. A total of 94 students have taken up the assessment. The testing batch had Core Testing and the Up-skill Selenium Assessment. The Core Java batch had Core Java and Java Full Stack Pre-assessment. Ms. Rekha from IBM was at the campus to facilitate the assessment. IBM has come up with a new proposal this year regarding its training period for Fresher’s i.e., IBM Campus Connect. IBM Campus Connect trains the fresher’s in their respective colleges for a period of time depending on the course they are to be trained. They were divided into three technical courses Core Java, C#, Software Testing.
