BOAT & DTE in collaboration with Sahyadri organize an Apprenticeship Fair
Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai & Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru in collaboration with Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management organized an Apprenticeship Fair on 26th July 2019 for Engineering Graduates/Diploma/General Graduates at the Campus which saw the participation of around 400 students.
Mr. V.S. Pandey Asst. Director in charge - BOAT, Mr. Dileep from Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru, Mr. S Rajendra, GM-HR KIOCL Limited were the guests for the inaugural ceremony along with Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman. Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, while addressing the gathering, appreciated the Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai & Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru, for providing opportunities to the young graduates. He urged the students to grab this opportunity and enhance their skills and practical approach in building a solid foundation to their career. He emphasized that the training will provide the students with a platform to measure their passion and capability in their field of choice.
Mr. V.N Pandey gave a brief insight into the Board of Apprenticeship Training. He said that the training should be considered as the learning period and not earning period. He brought out the benefits of apprenticeship training which includes skill development, bridging gap between theory and practice, platform to enter corporate houses. He appreciated the enthusiasm and commitment from the Sahyadri management and also Placement Officer in hosting the event and also thanked the Management.
Mr. Rajendra, GM - HR, spoke about the various opportunities provided at their organization and their growth. Prof. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean Placement, delivered the vote of thanks.

Orientation Program for Third Semester students of Electronics & Communication Engineering
On Day 2 i.e. 25th July 2019, Signal Processing and VLSI vertical was presented.
Introduction started with concept of signal everywhere, importance of signal processing in various applications like communication, embedded system, etc., being explained. Further, digital image processing concept was elaborated in which, what is image processing, components of image processing, applications of image processing, purpose of image processing, types of image processing, future scope, advantages and disadvantages, were told. The Industry Connect Coordinator presented the objectives of the Industry Connect course and explained the three thrust areas such as Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing and Neural Networks with an example and its industrial applications.
A introduction about VLSI vertical, evolution and applications of VLSI technology, types of industries related to VLSI technology and opportunities for students in VLSI design filed as well as skill required to be a VLSI engineer were presented by the faculty members.
The industry connect coordinator presented the objectives of the Industry Connect course and explained the three thrust areas such as Microelectronics, Analog Mixed Mode Signal and Device Fabrication with an example and its industrial applications.
Caliper bags 1st order from Defence
Caliper which has already been approved by Defence, bagged the first order for a component, which goes into “Automatic Pistols” used by our Armed Forces. This is an import substitution product and in the bidding process. Caliper thwarted competition technically and becomes single supplier of this component.
This is a proud achievement not only for Caliper, but also for Sahyadri to cherish!
Caliper is an in-house start-up Company in Sahyadri, set-up to manufacture precision machined & fabricated products / assemblies to serve niche industries in nuclear, defence, ISRO, oil and gas.

Mr. Vasanth B. has joined the Administration Department as Campus Manager on 25th July 2019. He has completed his Graduation in Army Services. He is an ex-serviceman having served in the Indian Army from 1993 to 2011. After retiring from the Indian Army he worked for 7 years as Hostel Superintendent of K.S. Hegde Medical College Mangalore.
