Session on Emotional intelligence for students of the Young Leadership Program (YLP) organized by NAIN and SHINE Foundation

“The prowess to appraise, control and assess emotions to handle oneself and others with a balanced state of mind can be deemed as emotional intelligence”. To throw light upon this, Mr. Vivek Atray, a former IAS and motivational speaker addressed the group of spirited leaders of Young Leadership Program about “Emotional Intelligence” on 3rd July, 2021.
Mr. Vivek being an all-rounder himself accentuated on the benefits of being versatile and multitalented. He went on with an intriguing flow to conversant the young leaders about the significance of being empathetic and calm for emotional intelligence by restating the life experiences of celebrated personalities. He inspired the students by sharing his wisdom from his experiences in diverse domains.
Further, there were riveting questions put forward by the enthusiastic students, which were answered benevolently. Aishwarya K, a student of 2nd year Information Science & Engineering, hosted the session.

Extended Learning Programme in Mechanical Engineering for First Year Students

Extended_Learning Extended Learning Programme has been conducted to create an interest in the course by learning from the experience of the experts in different areas of research, creating awareness about the current trends in the industry and understanding on how the things learnt in the curricula can be applied in the real world scenario.
The first session of the Extended Learning Programme was organized on 3rd July, 2021. Dr. S Seetharamu and Dr. Prakash Urs were the expert Guests.
Dr. S Seetharamu, Former Director of CPRI, Technical Advisor-NDRF and Professor-Mechanical Engineering- “Inclusive Blended Learning for Innovation, Skills and Opportunities”
Dr. S. Seetharamu received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science and joined Central Power Research Institute (CPRI). He is a Chartered engineer, and has served as a Faculty at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. Dr. S. Seetharamu is a leading scientist at the Central Power Research Institute. His guidance and mentoring has benefited more than 50 masters and about 20 doctoral students from CPRI, Indian Institute of science, Bangalore University, IITs, NITs and VTU. Dr. S Seetharamu in his talk emphasized on the importance of digitalization and gaps in the process of converting an idea into a product. He motivated the students by giving an introduction of the various new technologies used in the industry and in the research field. He gave an invaluable input by listing out the activities/task to be done as a student each year and introduced on shaping our world, the new normal, the origins and purposes of mechanical engineering, digital twins, UAV drones, and other topics which added a ton of value to the audience.
Extended_Learning Dr. R Prakash Urs, Freelance Scientist/Technocrat – “Different Stages in Product Development”
Dr. R. Prakash Urs, is a freelance technocrat, doing research on Internal Combustion Engine and Product Development. He received his diploma in Mechanical Engineering and started his career at Messrs Escorts Ltd, an automotive company and served for 22 years. He has created more than 50 modifications and reengineering projects. He has two patents in his name for his work on developing the prototype “Guided Crank Pin in IC Engine” from the Ministry of Science & Technology and on “Long lasting Incandescent Bulbs”. Few of his works include, Dynamic Manual toothbrush, Smart Text reader, Take it easy sachets and many more.
Dr. R Prakash Urs spoke on different stages of product development by sharing his experience and also emphasized on the importance of practical knowledge and observing minute details in daily use products. He spoke on how curiosity and enthusiasm can lead to development of a new product. He also interacted with the students on the daily use products like safety pin and milk sachet, and encouraged the students to make a team and come up with an alternative solution which will be discussed in the forthcoming session.
The session was organized by the First year Department, coordinated by Dr. Prashanth Rao, Mr. Johnson Tellis, Mr. Gagan Shetty K and Mr. Supreeth Prabhu

Prof. Shailesh Shetty S, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering has been appointed as a VTU Nominee to select Best Projects for VTU Financial Assistance 2021. He Evaluated 20 Different Projects of various domains from 10 Branches of Bapuji Institute of Technology, Davangere during 28th to 29th June 2021 through Online Platform.
Principal, Dean & Various Heads of Departments of Bapuji Institute of Technology were present during the Project Presentation.

Mr. Ankith S Kumar, Student Counsellor, participated in the Learning and Q&A sessions on “Staying Healthy Through Future COVID Waves: Essential DOs and DONTs” with the 5 Super Speciality Doctors including 3 Padma Shree awardees from Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mahajan Imaging, Max Healthcare, Fortis Healthcare and Nephron Clinics who spoke on how to brace yourself & intelligently prepare for the probable third wave of coronavirus, and the truth behind myths related to the pandemic & its treatment. The webinar was held on 3rd July, 2021. The panel consisted of Padma Shree Dr. Balbir Singh, Chairman & Head of Cardiology Pan Max, Member of GMAC Cardiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital; Padma Shree Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder & Chief Radiologist, Mahajan Imaging Pvt Ltd.; Dr. Rommel Tickoo, Director, Internal Medicine, Max Healthcare; Dr. Samir Parikh, Director, Fortis National Mental Health Program, Fortis Healthcare; Padma Shree Dr. Sanjeev Bagai, Chairman & Managing Director, Nephron Clinics. The webinar was organised by New Delhi Institute of Management and PHDCCI Education Committee.
