Joint Director of DIC visited Sahyadri

Joint_Director Mr. Gokuldas Nayak, Joint Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, Mangalore, along with Mangalore Smart City Commissioner, visited Sahyadri to inspect Robotic Welding installation set-up under Karnataka Council of Technology Upgradation (KCTU) funding.
He was warmly welcomed by Principal and Head of Dept. of Mechanical Engineering upon the arrival. Dr. Ratish Chandra Gatti, Principal Investigator & Mr. Abhishek, Co-PI for this project accompanied Joint Director and showed him the robotic welding installation as well as taken around the campus. Mr. Gokuldas Nayak appreciated the efforts taken by Sahyadri to enable budding engineers to be "Industry Ready".
KCTU sanctioned Rs.1.00 Cr for installing two Robotic Welding Set-ups, in order to develop technologies for MSMEs and also provide training to Engineering students & other working technicians for the industry.

Electronics - The bridging Technology

cet
Humans have been delegating work to machines and this has been a key attribute towards evolution. Starting from regular mundane manual work that enriched quality of life over a period of time and work that requires intellectual ability. Technology evolved on the wing side creating solutions that enable delegating tasks and covering various aspects of life. Starting from simple machines based on mechanical systems that eased life at home and directly increased productivity in the industry. As time progressed and the need for automation arose, the need for logic and control also became essential.
Devices and circuits evolved enabling barrier scaling of simple delegation to full-scale automation thus covering all spheres of life. Today, electronic devices and circuits have found a place from miniature pacemakers to managing huge power generating plants. Communication is one of the primary behaviors exhibited by humans. With electronics, Distance was shortened, Speed and Capacity were enhanced accelerating lifestyle and business to the next level. It would be too simple to mention the impact of electronics in the entertainment domain from personalized viewing devices to large billboard hoardings. Electronics have improved transportation navigation over Land, Water, Air and extended the same to space as well. Today electronics has touched our daily life in every possible way.
One of the major achievements of electronics has been to realize logical operations, this opened up and a whole new domain of the computational world, which expedited human evolution to the next level. Today, most of medical diagnosis and treatment depend on electronic sensors, scanners, and imaging devices.
To summarize the functions, electronic devices and circuits amalgamate and enable key domains like mechanical systems, computational systems, transportation, manufacturing, and healthcare, thus making it smarter, productive, and reliable. Electronics continue to evolve in the form of miniature electromechanical devices; enabling next-generation medical devices like implantable devices, devices that switch at Terabit rate enabling faster internet connectivity. Being an interdisciplinary domain the demand and scope for talent is higher than before, offering opportunities wide open for both employment and research.

Quote for the day

Life is never easy. There is work to be done and obligations to be met – obligations to truth, to justice, and to liberty.
- John F. Kennedy
