Chairman meets Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka to discuss on Current Education Scenario along with Heads of other Institutions

Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation had an interaction with Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan at his office in Bengaluru. During this interaction, Sri G. B. Jyothi Ganesh, MLA and Managing Director of Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Gubbi, Tumkur ; Dr. Huliyankar, MLC, Chairman of Shridevi Insitute of Engineering & Technology, Tumkur; Mr. Mohan Babu, Oxford College, Bengaluru; Sri. Sudharshan, M.S. Engineering College Bengaluru; and Sri. B.M. Patil, BLDE, Bijapur were also present. They had a discussion on current Academic Crisis and possible resuming of the functioning of all Engineering colleges. They also discussed on possibility of conducting the semester end exams and also future scenario of education system.

Lab Internals through Faculty Developed App reaches Successful Completion

lab_internals With regard to the Lab Internals during the Covid-19, a well-developed App based on Python Programming was introduced by Prof.Vijay C. P., Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering. The App was used to generate Random Programs among the set of Lab programs for students based on their USN and batch in Lab sessionals. Furthermore, it will be stored in Excel Sheet programs assigned to each student based on their USN & batch.
Besides, another App viz. Attendance Tracker for Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (ATDCS.V.C.19), once again based on Python Programming was introduced to track attendance status of students on an online platform.
Notification was being sent to the mentors regarding the absence of the mentees.

DreamWorks Makerspace organized a Webinar on Makers to the Rescue: How Makerspaces have unified to Combat COVID-19

dreamwork DreamWorks Makerspace organised their second Webinar on “Makers to the Rescue: How Makerspaces have unified to Combat COVID-19?” under the theme “Makers Community and their Contribution to the Society Amidst the COVID Crisis” on 15th June’2020. The Webinar was facilitated by Mr. Vaibhav Chhabra, Chief Learning Officer & Founder, Maker’s Asylum Mumbai.
The purpose of the Webinar was to outspread the message on how Maker communities around the world have been responding to the COVID crisis, with a vision to save lives together and uncovering the journey of making unique and innovative products such as protection kits and face shields for the frontline workers, during these times of battle with Covid-19.
In the hour-long session, the participants got to interact with Mr. Chhabra on his story of setting up Maker’s Asylum and walk through the journey of accomplishing the mission of delivering 1 Million face shields to the healthcare professionals, with a selfless attitude of sharing and working together as Makers. In this noble cause, DreamWorks Makerspace collaborated with Maker’s Asylum and delivered almost 5,000 face shields from their side.
Finally, this Webinar is a step taken to set forth in helping students learn and foster Innovation towards the growth of the community.

Dept. of Civil Engineering organized a Webinar facilitated by Head, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru

civil Dept. of Civil Engineering under the guidance of Prof. Hemanth Prabhu, Head, Civil Engineering, organized a Webinar on "Geotechnical Engineering for Infrastructure", facilitated by Dr. S K Prasad, Prof. & Head of Civil Engineering, Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru, and a renowned person in the education and consultancy sector.
The session started by highlighting the importance of soil in the field of Civil Engineering. Geotechnical Engineering is the engineering behavior of the earth and its material. This branch has significance in the construction activity on the surface or within the ground.
Dr. S K Prasad said that Geotechnical Engineering plays a vital role in all infrastructure and development projects, failure of which leads to influence of ground and increased costs. He also explained by considering the case study of apartment buildings in Shanghai. The cause of the collapse of building was explained marvelously in the session. The session also highlighted the prerequisites, investigation of the site, design consideration etc.
The session was very informative and also the questions are clarified.
