VTU Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) Online Virtual Inspection and Verification Process conducted at Sahyadri

As a part of the VTU annual Inspection, a four-member team of VTU Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) conducted an Online Inspection and Verification of all the departments, other facilities, activities, and documentation.

anathprabhu A Book authored by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering titled “The Samurai Who Sold His Suzuki” was listed in Google Play Books on 16th June 2020. This is a unique book which talks about those life skills for independent living that are not taught in schools.


book The theme of the book revolves round Ayaan a young boy from middle class family having dreams a normal person of his age would have. He was always dependent especially on parents and had a few addictions. He eventually meets a Samurai who unravels few truths of life and how to live life independently, with main focus on physical and mental health. This journey set a turning point in his life. This book entails the fundamental aspects that have been practiced and achieved by the greatest scholars of all time.

Value Added Course on Digital Marketing for MBA–Marketing Students

Students of MBA–Marketing specialisation underwent a value added course on “Digital Marketing”, by Mr. Vishal Patel, Associate Director-Marketing, MetricStream. The sessions were delivered through Zoom App. Mr. Vishal Patel has an experience of more than 16 years in Digital Marketing. He is an alumnus of Ohio University, USA.
Mr. Patel introduced the students to the concept of marketing such as business to business and business to customer marketing, by explaining its differences in detail. The components of marketing were introduced along with 4 P’s of Marketing. He also made the difference between the sales and marketing clear to the students.
Further, the ACPP buying model was explained precisely with examples. The role of Customer Relationship Management was communicated with its uses and its benefits for business. Additionally, he also explained the evolution of Digital Marketing with a clear diagram.
The concepts on how to align Digital Marketing with the business objective was showed. Later, he introduced the concept of Search Engine optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) by explaining its difference and giving live examples using Google website. The importance of SEO and SEM was made clear to the class. Various other concepts such as evolution of Web Technology, User Behavior and Navigations, Critical Components, Search Engine Land, on-page SEO and off-page SEO, Ad Account Structure, Ad Auction and Keyword match types were taught.

online_fdp Sahyadri in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Carmel College, Bantwal, conducted a National Level Online FDP on “Adapting ourselves to the Online Academic Activities” on 16th June’2020. Prof. Sunil Kumar Rai, Dept. of Civil Engineering, facilitated the programme.
While emphasizing the importance of Faculty Development Programme, Prof. Sunil touched upon the following subjects:
• Effect of Pandemic Covid-19 on the Education sector;
• How to explore Online platforms in the field of teaching;
• Use of Google tools like Google Drive, Google Sheet, Google Form, Google Classrooms;
• How to conduct Online classes using Online platforms;
• How to create a Google Form to conduct Quiz or test;
• How to conduct a Webinar using Online platforms;
• How to conduct Online test or assignments; and
• How to generate automatic Online E-certificate with emails.
Prof. Prashanth Duddela, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering briefed about different online platforms available for the conduction of classes and webinars. He explained how to use Zoom, Cisco Web-ex, Google Meet etc.
The Webinar lasted for three hours and was very interactive and informative. It has captivated teaching fraternities of various institutions. Around 220+ participants pooled in Google Meet and 100+ attended live streaming on YouTube. It has received humongous appreciation from its audience.

Dean, Placement & Training attends ‘Scholar@SAP’ Virtual Meet conducted by SAP Labs

sap Prof. Rashmi Bhandary, Dean-Placement & Training had been a part of the Virtual Placement Officers’ Meet 2020 conducted by SAP Labs on Microsoft Teams. The Meet aimed to strengthen the Industry-Academic Collaboration. Around 115 participants including Academicians, Professors, Placement Directors and Officers had been a part of this Meet.
The ‘Scholar@SAP’ Program has been jointly developed with BITS, Pilani to induct and nurture young talent and has provided the ‘Scholars’ with an opportunity to learn and earn simultaneously. The students inducted into this program enjoy the advantage of working on Live SAP projects and blend theoretical and practical phases with different organizational units. At the end of their academic year, Scholar@SAP students are invited to apply for permanent positions at SAP based on their performance.
This dual offering from SAP helps fresh graduates to gain skills and knowledge that will lead to a long-term career success.

Faculty, Dept of Mechanical Engineering publishes Research Paper in the Digital Library of Indian Society for Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT)

ISHMT A Research Paper by Prof. Shankara Murthy H.M., Dept. of Mechanical Engineering titled “Investigations on Heat Transfer and Friction Factor Characteristics of Graphene Oxide/Water through A Heat Exchanger with Turbulator Propeller Insert” is published in the Digital Library of Indian Society for Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT).
The Paper deals with the experimental investigations on Double Pipe Heat Exchanger (DPHE) to augment heat transfer using a combination of propeller type metallic turbulators/normal twisted inserts and Graphene Oxide (GO) nanofluid. Experimental investigation reveals significant rise in heat transfer and thermal performance of the heat exchanger.
