Head, Dept. of Civil Engineering delivered a Webinar organised by Nagarjuna College of Engineering and Technology, Bengaluru

webinar Prof. B Hemanth Prabhu, Head, Dept. of Civil Engineering delivered a Webinar on ‘Deflection of Beams By Strain Energy Method’ organized by the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Nagarjuna College of Engineering and Technology, Bengaluru on 8th June’2020. Students and faculty from different engineering colleges throughout the state participated in the Webinar.
Deflection of a beam is vertical displacement of a point on a loaded beam. There are many methods to find slope and deflection at a section of a beam, strain energy method is one of them. Strain Energy of a member is nothing but an increase in energy associated with deformation of the member.
The presentation explained how to evaluate strain energy under Axial Force, Torsion, Shear and Bending of a member. Numerical examples were solved using the Strain Energy method. The webinar also explained about Castegliano's Theorem and Numerical examples based on the same method. It is needless to say that it was very informative and also the questions are clarified.
