Management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) has assumed a greater significance in the present day world of explosive technological growth and developments. Intellectual Property Rights and its ambiguity is a complex proposition. IPR protection plays a key role in gaining competitive advantage in terms of technological gains for achieving higher economic growth in a market driven economy. Hence, it requires a greater skill set to understand the intellectual property portfolio valuation and management. In this context a one-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights: Significance for Academia in Business & Research is organized by Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and Mangalore University in association with Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre, Govt. of Karnataka on Monday, 22 of June 2015 in the Campus. Faculty members from various institutes and researchers will be participating in this workshop. Mr. V Raghuram, Consultant, Technology and IP Commercialization and Dr Rama Murthy, Head – IPR Centre for Emerging Technologies, Jain University, Bangalore are the key resource persons for the workshop.

Ms. Smitha has joined the Department of Civil Engineering as an Assistant Professor. She obtained her B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, Puttur and postgraduation M.Tech. degree in Structural Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Her area of specialization is Structural Engineering.
