Officials from Canara Bank visit Sahyadri Mr. Laxmi Narayana, General Manager, Mangalore Circle Office; Mr. Vasanth Shetty, Assistant General Manager, Mangalore Regional Office & Mr. Maxim Castelino, Chief Branch Manager, Valencia Branch of Canara Bank visited Sahyadri and met the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary & Mr. M Ramesh Hegde, Finance Officer. They went around the campus, visited the in-house start-ups, the hands-on labs and had words of praise for the unique initiatives of Sahyadri and its growth since its inception.

Valedictory Ceremony of “Chetana 2018” at Infosys, Mangaluru

Chetana 2018 Chetana 2018 The Valedictory Ceremony of “Chetana 2018” - empowering girls with technology, an 8-Day programme for the students scoring 96% in SSLC Board Exams all over Karnataka was held at Infosys Technologies Ltd. IT & ITES SEZ, Mudipu. Chetana is launched by the Government of Karnataka aiming to educate, mentor and support the highly talented female students of the state.

Mr. Sasikanth Senthil, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada District was the Chief Guest of the programme. Mr. Vasudev Kamath, Head - Infosys Development Centre Mangaluru; Mr. Dheeraj Hejmadi, Regional Head - Facilities and Infrastructure; Mr. Suresh, Head - Facilities Mangaluru; Mr. Kannan, Regional Head - Corporate Affairs for South and West India from Samsung India were the dignitaries of the function.

Mr. Senthil addressed the audience by saying that an event like Chethana is an eye opener for all the talented students especially the ones in rural areas who are bound to their traditional lifestyles and mindsets. He encouraged the students to take up Civil service jobs and also provided few inputs on how to prepare for UPSC exams.

Post this, the Chethana participants exhibited their talents through various cultural events and the dignitaries distributed awards to the winners of the event.

Sahyadrians Recruited by Anglo Eastern Ship Management Ltd Varshith K B, Mohammed Mansoor & Raghavendra Shetty from the Department of Mechanical Engineering have been selected by Anglo Eastern Ship Management Ltd and Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) for the position of Graduate Mechanical Engineer (GME) with highest salary package of Rs.14 Lakhs per annum in the recently held campus recruitment drive for the 2018 outgoing batch.

Beat the Plastic Pollution Beat the Plastic Pollution The Valedictory Ceremony of “Beat the Plastic Pollution” - Beach Cleaning Programme on the occasion of World Environment Day -2018 was held at Panambur Beach. The beach cleaning was followed by formal function and a skit for spreading the awareness of problems caused by plastic. The dignitaries during formal function were Dr. S R Somashekar; Dr. Lakshmipathi M T, Co-ordinator; Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Senior Director, College of Fisheries; Dr. Dinesh Kumar V K, Regional Director, Ministry of Environment; Mr. Uttappa S, Ministry of Environment; Mr. Yathesh Baikampady, Member of the Beach Committee; Dr. Srinivas Rao Kunte, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Ms. Shreelatha U A, Academic Administrative Officer, Prof. Sunil Kumar, HoD, Prof. Anil Kumar and Prof. Sanjith S Anchan, Department of Civil Engineering participated in the programme.

Academic Administrative Officer invited as the Chief Guest for the First PTA meeting at Capitanio English Medium Higher Primary School, Mangaluru

Academic Administrative Officer invited as the Chief Guest Ms. Shreelatha U A, Academic Administrative Officer was invited by Capitanio English Medium Higher Primary School, Mangaluru to address the parents during their First Parents Teachers Association meeting on the “Changing Values of Children in the Fast Changing Times”. She spoke about days when she was a student of high school and asked the parents to retrospect their times as children and compare it to the present generation. She urged them to encourage students to take up responsibility and make them independent and strong. She emphasized on the importance of allowing the children to be involved in activities that require them to take up responsibility and build on their confidence. She said that the children should be aware of the hardships that their parents go through to make children understand the value of each and every thing that matter. Ms. Shreelatha explained that children learn by imitating the elders, so it is very important for every adult in the family to be a good role model for the child. Sr. Shalini, Headmistress & Sr. Celine Mendonza, School Manager were present during the programme. Over 150 parents attended the programme.
