Placement and Training - GeeksforGeeks Campus Mantri

GeeksforGeeks Al Ashqan Babu from the 1st year Computer Science & Engineering Branch has been selected as the "GeeksforGeeks Campus Mantri" for the year 2021-22. This is a year-long program where he would be working with them, organizes workshops, encourage students and enhance the coding environment in Sahyadri.
GeeksforGeeks will provide promotional support for all the events arranged. There are around 170 Mantris this year from all over Indian campuses. (Like IIT's, NIT's, etc).
The best performers (Best Mantri) of the month will be awarded and after 6 months the best performer (Mantri) of the quarter will be displayed as a poster on the official website of GeeksforGeeks. He would receive an experience certificate and internship opportunities in the future from Geeks for Geeks.

Phase II: AICTE Sponsored One-Week STTP on “Innovative Approaches in Teaching Pedagogy”

AICTE Day Four (17th June 2021):

Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande, KLS IMER, Belagavi on the topic - “Lessons through Great Epics of India”


Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande is a MBA in HR and has got his PhD in Management from VTU Belagavi. He is also a Course Content Developer and Course faculty for ISTD-PG Diploma, New Delhi.
Dr. Sanjay K Deshpande in his session tried decoding the great Indian Epics like Mahabharatha and Ramayana and established relevance of each instances and characters to the corporate events and the developments in life. He started with Organization Structure in Kuru Dynasty and went on to relate Lord Hanuman’s motivation to carry Sanjeev Parvath which was rich with medicinal herbs, and hence the significance of respect to be shown to nature around. He established connection between Kurukshethra war and the personal dilemmas and emotions. He emphasized the importance of a mentor in one’s life just like how Krishna was to Arjuna.

Dr. Rajesha S, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru on the topic - “Interactive/Participative Learning”

Dr. Rajesha S is a B.E., M.Tech and Ph.D with area of specialization in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering. Dr. Rajesha S joined Sahyadri in the year 2018 and sphere headed the team to achieve NBA accreditation.
He ensured the session was interactive and discussed the challenges of current Education System. He emphasized on accountability and documentation and suggested to upskill in order to gear up and meet the highly demanding skill requirements of a Teacher.

Dr. Bijuna C Mohan, Assistant Professor, School of Management, NITK, Suratkal on the topic - “Activity Based Teaching”

Dr. Bijuna C Mohan has over 6 years of experience in the industry and over 17 years of teaching experience. She has received the ABP News National B-School Award for Best Professor in Teaching Advertising Management.
Dr. Bijuna C Mohan gave a demo on how Breakout Rooms can be used in ZOOM and Microsoft Teams. She highlighted the benefits of outcome-based learning and also spoke about Think-Pair-Share, Role play, Presentation, Debate, Quick Write, Clicker Questions, and Jigsaw which can be used as effective tools to engage students.

Dr. S. Mohan Kumar, Expert Committee Member of AICTE-Stanford (SLA), MHRD NEAT Platform & AICTE-All India Board of PG Studies (AIB-PGERT) on the topic – “Pedagogy in Teaching, Learning and Research”

Dr. S. Mohan Kumar is a B.E, M.Tech (IIT-K) and Ph.D (IIT-KGP). He was the Former Principal (GECH & SDMCET) & Professor in Mechanical Engg. (MCE), Hassan.
Dr. Mohan emphasized on the roles played by a Teacher in effective Teaching-Learning Process. He listed out the upcoming trends in education and how the teachers should upgrade in these fields. He clarified doubts related to Automation, 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence and future technologies as well as National Education Policy.

Webinar on "Advanced Wastewater Treatment for utility of treated wastewater for secondary purposes" organized by Dept. of Civil Engineering

Manoj_Kumar Dr. B Manoj Kumar Professor & Head, TEQIP III Coordinator, Department of Environmental Engineering Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysuru delivered the session. Dr. Manoj, in his address stressed on Recycle and Reuse of domestic waste water for secondary purposes and highlighted the importance of the same during the current time. Dr. Manoj encouraged the audience to use recycled water in Concrete which presently uses fresh potable water for its manufacture. A few experimental results which proved use of recycled water from waste water in Concrete gave the same strength as that of Concrete were presented before the fellow audience.

Dr. K E Prakash Chairman, ICI-MANC (Former Registrar-VTU) welcomed the participants. Prof. Hemantha Prabhu, HoD, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Secretary ICI-MANC rendered the Vote of Thanks. Prof. Sunil Kumar K, Faculty Coordinator for Webinar coordinated the same. Faculty and Students from various Engineering Colleges participated in the event.
