Sahyadri, Shortlisted for the Final Round of Presentation of “Clean and Smart Campus 2020” under IKS category

The Clean and Smart Campus award under the Indian Knowledge system was open for various colleges in all disciplines throughout India. Sahyadri was one of the few colleges shortlisted for the final round. The Final presentation was held on 18th June 2021.
Dr. S Manjappa S, Director-Research; Dr. Rajesha S, Principal; Dr. Ravichandra R, Head of Dept. of Mechanical Engineerging and Dr. Savitha M B, Dept. of Chemistry were present during the final presentation.
Dr. Rajesha S introduced the committee members to the jury. Dr. S Manjappa, explained the various Green and Smart initiatives of the Institute such as - Architecture, Building Design and Furniture in line with IKS, the ecosystem, energy conservation practices adopted in college, various smart initiatives in the campus to the external environment panel of experts and AICTE representative. The jury members have appreciated the various initiatives taken by the Institute.

Placement and Training: Recruited by Netcracker Technology Solutions

LIKHITH Likhith R Kulal from Computer Science & Engineering Branch has been recruited by Netcracker Technology Solutions in the recently held virtual Campus Recruitment Drive. He is selected as Associate, Software Engineer for a package of INR 6 LPA.

Phase III: AICTE Sponsored One-Week STTP on “Innovative Approaches in Teaching Pedagogy”

AICTE Day One (24th June 2021):

Dr. Mukesh Patil, Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, RNS Institute of Technology, Bengaluru on the topic “Collaboration/Cooperative/Peer Learning”

Dr. Mukesh Patil is a B.E, M.Tech and Ph.D with area of specialization in Thermal Engineering. He gave an insight on various approaches on teaching like, Flipped classroom learning, Project–Based Learning, Problem Based Learning, Thinking Based Learning, Competency based Learning, and Gamification. He shared videos emphasizing on these topics on learning, which made the session more interactive and created a strong foundation for a week long training

Dr. Suhan Mendon, Associate Professor at Manipal Institute of Management, Manipal on the topic - “Project-Based Learning”

Dr. Suhan Mendon is an M.Com, M.Phil, MBA and Ph.D. He addressed the participants with examples on how Project based Learning can be implemented in the field of Art, Science, and Management. He highlighted that students would learn and remember the concepts very clearly if they experience them rather than when just explained to them.

Mr. Mohan Kumar, Practice Head at Wipro Ltd on the topic – “Management lessons through Cricket”

He has 32 years of IT experience and holds Electrical Engineering degree and MBA in HR. He is a certified cricket Umpire too.
Mr. Mohan in his session threw light on World of Cricket business, Innovative approaches in cricket and learning practices. He encouraged faculty to bring anecdotes of Cricket and Analytics into class which the students can easily relate and learn.

Sahyadri to Host Grand Finale of I2CONNECT in collaboration with IEEE-Mangalore Sub-Section

The Grand Finale of the prestigious 6th edition of I2CONNECT-2021 (Industry Institute Conclave on Electronics, Computational and Communication Technologies), a State-Level Project Competition and Exhibition for all the Technical students, which is organized by IEEE Mangalore Sub-section, will be hosted by Sahyadri on 26th June 2021.
Projects will be presented under the five themes, namely:
● Embedded System, VLSI, Signal Processing, Communication, Electronics Circuits
● Robotics and Automation: Vehicular Technology, Alternate Energy
● Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning.
● Distributed Computing, Networking, IoT and Cyber Security
● Innovation and Humanitarian Technology
More than 150 project ideas have been received from students across the state.

Launch of the new division of Quantum Computing by SOSC

Quantum SOSC has recently integrated a sub-division an inclusive Quantum Computing community to help like-minded folks learn and share gained knowledge. On 26th June 2021, SOSC will be hosting an interactive session to formally launch the new division and explore the exciting new world of Quantum Computing.
