International Women’s Day Celebrated

It is essential for the youth in colleges to be aware of women empowerment. After all, this young crowd is the one that will grow and help transform the nation's future. Moreover, it is easy to be influenced by ideas at a young age. So, why not help our youth in imbibing positive values about the equality of both genders? For this purpose, “Empowering Women” a talk by Bhrahma Kumari, Meera Nagananda was organized in the campus on account of International Women’s Day celebration.

Bhrahma Kumari, Meera Nagananda, Regional director of Bhrama Kumaris for South East Asia, gave an overview of the Bhrahma Kumaris’ Organization. Talking about the empowerment, she stressed on the fact that ‘spiritual empowerment’ would help in maintaining the self respect in women. She also addressed the problems that women are facing in this world, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries, such as lack of education, low mobility, family responsibility, financial constrains and social status. She gave some remedies to overcome these issues and realize the worth of women in society. She also explained the process of empowerment and said to have a balance between masculine and feminine qualities so that one could become empowered. The talk was informative and inspirational.

Pro.(Mrs.)Irene Veigas, Principal Sahyadri Nursing Institution delivered the presidential remark and spoke about the background of women’s day celebration. She emphasized on respecting and remembering women’s achievements not just on women’s day but always. Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Shreelatha U.A., AAO introduced the Guest Speaker. Dr. Mohandas Bhat, Dean Academics proposed vote of thanks.

Sahyadrian wins the ‘Mr. Karnataka- 2014’ title

Mr. Jagadish Poojary, Gym Trainer, a Professional Body Builder, has bagged the ‘Mr. Karnataka - 2014’ title, in the 20th State Level Body Building Championship. He received the first prize and a Gold Medal in the event organized by United Sports Club, Malpe, Udupi in association with Association of Body Builders, Udupi District. He is also selected for the national level competition.

TCS Off - Campus Recruitment Drive held in the Campus

TCS conducted an off-campus recruitment drive for 628 candidates from Engineering colleges of Dakshin Kannada and Udupi district. It consisted of online tests and the results are awaited.
