Staff Member Qualifies in Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET)

Ms. Shwetha Kumari K., Librarian, has scored 61.71% in the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET)-2014 thus qualifying herself for Lecturer/Assistant Professorship.

Upcoming Events

The Google Student Community have organised a series of events at the Forum Fiza Mall, Mangaluru. The Forum Fiza Mall App Fair will be held on Saturday, the 7th of March, 2015 from 6 P. M. to 7 P. M. in Forum Fiza Mall Office. The Go Online race finish will be held on Sunday, the 8th of March, 2015 from 11 A.M. to 12 noon in the Sahyadri campus. The Grand Valedictory of the Google Fest will be held in Forum Fiza Mall on Sunday, the 8th of March, 2015 from 5 P. M. to 8 P. M.

Elections of the new Google Student Ambassador for the next year will also be held by Google.

Three-Day Google Fest Mangaluru Held in the Campus

The three-day Google Fest Mangaluru organized by the Google Student Community saw the fest taking off with the "Go Onl!ne" event, where participants were given a week's time to move around the whole city to convince local businesses, enterprises, etc. to make their presence felt online by building front ends of websites, mobile apps, AdWords and gMap listings for them.

Another event, "Id8"; the design thinking session, was conducted by Karthik Ramakrishnan, Google Student Ambassador of Mangaluru. He gave the participants guidelines on to how to take forward their ideas on the given problem statement which was "A systematic feedback system for the customers meeting the District Commissioner (DC) of Mangaluru." Thirteen teams (four from Sahyadri) developed unique solutions to this same problem statement. The teams then presented their solutions before a jury consisting of Mr. Ashwin, NIC Officer, DC's Office, Mangaluru, Mr. Suresh Agarwal, CEO, Shri Shyam Technica, Ahmedabad and Dr. Antony A.J., Vice-Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management who presided over the whole event. The designs will be sent to the DC himself for his reviews and two best teams will be awarded on the 8th of March 2015 at the valedictory of the Google Fest to be held in Forum Fiza Mall, Mangaluru.

A game development workshop - "Game On", a one-day hands-on session on Unity platform for a simple three-dimensional game was held on the second day of the fest. The workshop saw thirty-two participants from four different colleges in Mangalore - Shridevi Institute of Technology, Karavali College of Engineering, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil and Srinivas School of Engineering, Mukka. Mr. Vathsal Ambastha, Founder and MD of Firexit Software along with his team conducted the day long workshop. Participants were delighted with the experience and learning and thanked the Google Student Community for conducting the impactful session. The event was held in collaboration with the Google Student Ambassador of Manipal, Tanay Agarwal.

The Rohan Corporation App Fair was held on the third and final day of the Google Fest Mangaluru. Participants from seven different colleges developed mobile applications as per specifications given by The Rohan Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru and three teams were shortlisted to present their apps before the IT team of the firm. The jury highly appreciated all three apps. One team will be selected as the winner and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. The results and prize distribution of the event will be held on the 8th of March 2015 at the valedictory of the Google Fest in Forum Fiza Mall, Mangaluru.
