Prof. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering interacted with professors and researchers from USA at the 7th International Multi-Conference on Complexity, Informatics and Cybernetics: IMCIC 2016, Orlando, Florida, USA. IMCIC 2016 was organized and sponsored by the International Institute of Informatics and Systemics (IIIS, www.iiis.org), member of the International Federation for Systems Research (IFSR, www.ifsr.org). The IIIS is a multi-disciplinary organization for inter-disciplinary communication and integration, which includes more than 4500 members. Main purpose of the IIIS is to foster knowledge integration processes, interdisciplinary communication, and integration of academic activities.

Grand Finale Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2016
The Department of Business Administration of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management organized “Sahyadri Whiz Quiz' a quiz competition. The main idea behind the program was to motivate students to bring themselves up-to-date with the latest news and other emerging developments in the areas of Business History, Marketing, HR, Finance and Indian Economy.
The program was designed in two phases - College round and Sahyadri Campus round. College round of the quiz was conducted during the month of Feb 2016 in selected 23 colleges in and around Mangalore and Udupi. Teams consisting of 3 members' from final year graduation were eligible to participate in the college round. Around 5000 students participated in the first round of quiz out of which 650 students were selected for finale. The day witnessed a mammoth crowd of participating students who were enthusiastic to combat in the final round. The Grand finale of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz began with a brief inauguration program.
Dr Vishal Samartha, Director, Department of Business Administration welcomed the gathering and gave a glimpse on the journey and achievements of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management and department of business administration. On this occasion she stressed on the Vision of our Chairman Mr Manjunath Bhandary of encouraging young minds in the knowledge enhancing process. Professor Lokesh briefed the audience on the objectives behind venturing into Sahyadri Whiz Quiz and the conduct of the event in a phased manner.
Mr. Murthy Ramaiah Krishna, General Manager- HRM SLK Software, Bengaluru, was the chief guest for the event. He has over 17 years of experience in talent acquisition, employer branding, quality management, candidate engagement, resource management, process improvement, community building etc. He applauded the efforts of students and management for putting up a magnificent arena for undergraduate students for showcasing their intellectual capital. Further he was amazed with the infrastructure and the hospitality provided by Sahyadrians. He called upon the students to pursue their passion, outperform oneself continuously and work with utmost integrity and honesty as that is the key to success in today’s competitive world. The guest being a Marathon runner emphasized the need to dedicate oneself to work as well as pursue ones passion. This will lead to a healthier and happier life. At the closure of his speech he thanked the organizers for giving him the opportunity of being part of the program.
Dr Umesh M Bhushi, principal gave the presidential remarks and wished all the participants to give their best in all their endeavors. Dr D L Prabhakara, director, Sahyadri Group of Institutions felicitated the chief guest with a memento. Prof Karthik, co coordinator of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz was also present for the event. The inauguration ceremony closed with the vote of thanks by Prof Ramesh K G.
Six teams will face the final round after two elimination rounds. The winners will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 25000/-, Rs.15000/- and Rs.10000/- First, Second and Third Prize winners, respectively.
SMEC Automation Pvt. Ltd. Recruitment Drive
SMEC Automation Pvt. Ltd. conducted the Electro jobs test for the candidates which is an international initiative to provide skilled manpower from campus to core industries. Around 130 students participated in the process. Final results are awaited.
