One Day Industrial Visit for Civil Engineering Students

One-Day-Industrial-Visit-for-Civil-Engineering-Students 128 Pre-Final year B.E students from the Department of Civil Engineering visited Vented Dam and water purification plant at Thumbe, Mangaluru as a part of SPACE (Sahyadri Pupils Association of Civil Engineers) initiative. Prof. Manohar K (SPACE Coordinator), Prof. Sudeep Shetty, Prof. Bhavya P, Prof. Deepthishree S A and Prof. Kiran Kumar G.R, Department of Civil Engineering escorted and guided the students. Mr. Sudhakar, Operation In charge at Thumbe Vented Dam briefed the students regarding the various operation stages in the dam site. Post which, students visited the water treatment plant & Mr. Manohar, Chemical Engineer at the plant explained the various processes involved in the treatment process.

MBAs present their experience of Corporate Organisation visit

MBAs-present-their-experience-of-Corporate-Organisation-visit As a Student Progression activity, first year students of MBA sought approval from Corporate Heads for an Exposure visit in groups to their organisation and also to interview them about matters related to HR, Finance and Marketing functions. Post the visit; students have presented their experiences, giving glimpse of the Company Profile and also the “Out of the Box” strategies practiced in HR, Finance and Marketing domain. This activity has not only introduced the organisation to the rest of the students of MBA but has also helped in identifying the gaps in the practices currently followed in the company which can then be approached as Internship Projects for Quality improvement in the organisation.

Students in their presentation highlighted the key takeaways from their visit in terms of Cost Cutting strategies, Budget allotment for CSR activities, Culture of Driving Innovation, Brand Building approaches and so on. This has given them an immense learning experience as they procured information from the practitioners to gauge whether the theory learnt in classrooms can actually be implemented or not. As a learning outcome, this has contributed to developing Communication Skill, Presentation skill, Networking Skill, Negotiation Skill in addition to improving their knowledge on HR, Finance and Marketing areas.

Tayana pooled campus recruitment drive

Tayana pooled campus recruitment drive Tayana Software conducted the pooled campus recruitment drive for engineering students of 2017 batch at Sahyadri campus. 280 students from pool colleges were part of the recruitment process, of which three have been shortlisted for final round of selection. Mr. Rathan Rao, CTO, Tayana Software Solutions accompanied by panelists on the recruitment team were at the campus to facilitate the entire recruitment process.

Sahyadri Whiz Quiz preliminary round at Sri Ramakrishna College, Mangaluru

Sahyadri-Whiz-Quiz-preliminary-round-at-Sri-Ramakrishna-College,-Mangaluru Final year students pursuing B.Com & BBM at Sri Ramakrishna College, Mangaluru had registered for Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2017. Dr. Rashmi Kodikal & Prof. Padmanabha B along with six student volunteers of the MBA Department administered the Written Quiz Round & the College Level Quiz Round as Quiz Masters, Time Keepers and Score Keepers. 4 teams emerged as winners and have been invited to participate in the “The Grand Finale - Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2017” on March 10th’17 in Sahyadri Campus. Prof. Koti. B, Sri Ramakrishna College distributed certificates to the winning team.

Faculty Member Guest Edited Journal Special Issue Published Online

Prof. Steven Lawrence Fernandes The journal special issue titled "Recent Advances in Soft Computing for Societal Applications” for Recent Patents on Computer Science journal, guest edited by Prof. Steven Lawrence Fernandes, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is published online. Recent Patents on Computer Science is indexed by Scopus, EI/Compendex, Genamics JournalSeek, MediaFinder-Standard Periodical Directory, PubsHub, J-Gate, CNKI Scholar, Suweco CZ and EBSCO. The aim of this special issue was to demonstrate the current progress in Soft Computing for Societal Applications. Recent advances are applicable to various fields, such as academia, industry, and government. This issue also fills the gap between the theoretical challenge and the practical implementation by discussing the recent ideas in various fields related to society.
