SilverPeak Global, Japan visited Sahyadri & interacted with the selected students along with their parents. SilverPeak Global, Japan is an organization headquartered in Nagasaki, Japan. Their operations are spread across 7 nations including Japan, South Korea, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. SPG represents the “Study in Japan” initiative of the Government of Japan. It is the sole, exclusive representative for conducting the Japanese Language Test – “J-cert - Life and Business Style Japanese Language Test” for the whole of India.

Dr. S. Manjappa nominated as the advisory member of Karnataka Pollution Board, Bengaluru

Dr. S. Manjappa, Director R&D has been nominated as the member of advisory committee constituted by Karnataka Pollution Board, Bengaluru to evaluate and certify Industries for the Pollution Load and to provide certification for Modernization, Diversification, and Product Mix etc in the State of Karnataka. The nomination is as per Government of India notification of November 2017 by Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change New Delhi.

MBA team conducts Employment Training Programme at Vivekananda Degree College, Puttur

The faculty and students of Dept. of Business Administration were invited by the Placement & Training Cell and Dept. of Commerce and Management of Vivekananda Degree College, Puttur to conduct a Half-Day Employment Training programme for their final year B.Com and BBM students. Prof. Prajwala Preema Rodrigues & Mr. Ankith S Kumar along with MBA students facilitated the training programme on Resume Writing, Group Discussion and Interview skills for a total of 220 final year Commerce and Management students. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Peter Wilson Prabhakar, Principal and Prof. Venkataramana Bhat, HoD of Commerce and Business Management, Vivekananda College. The training programme was well received and appreciated by both, the faculty and students of Vivekananda College, Puttur.

• Session by Dr. Anand Ramachandran, Senior Software Engineer and Faculty at Zoho Corporation during 27th March to 28th March’18
An interaction session on ‘Machine Learning, AI and opportunities at Zoho Corporation’ will be facilitated by Dr. Anand Ramachandra who is the Senior Software Engineer at Zoho and also the faculty at Zoho University. Mr. Anand Ramachandran graduated from IIT Madras, with Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. He joined the University of Texas at Austin, USA for graduate studies in Petroleum Engineering, but switched majors to Computer Engineering. He spent 9 fruitful, fun years at UT, doing a mini Bachelors, a Masters and a PhD in the field of Computer Engineering. His PhD was about the design and analysis of low power memory subsystems for embedded media processing. After graduation, Mr. Anand joined Intel Corp in 2004, working in the area of low power. His work experience spanned power validation, power optimization, power estimation and power architecture on chipsets, server chips and the Intel Atom. After 8 years at Intel Austin, Mr. Anand returned to India, and joined Amrita University, Amritapuri as a Professor in the Dept. of Wireless Networks and Applications. He taught basic courses on Embedded System Design, Algorithms and Programming. After spending 4 years in academia, Mr. Anand joined ZOHO Corp as a Senior Software Engineer and as ZOHO University faculty. It is here in ZOHO that he was first exposed to the technology-of-the-future and cutting-edge area of ML/AI. He has primarily been focusing on understanding the field, the math and the science behind it and learning the ropes for the last 9 months. He has done a few basic problems, through the coursework of Prof. Andrew Ng (coursera/Standford) and hope to solve larger/meaningful problem as relevant to ZOHO in the near term.
The interaction shall also serve as a platform for a Long Term Industry – Academia collaboration.

• Women’s Health Awareness Programme for all female Staff
Dr. Anasuya Devi, Chief Medical Practitioner at Ayurdattam Clinic will be addressing the female faculty and staff of Sahyadri on the topic “Women’s Health”, at 04:30pm in the Ground Floor Seminar Hall. Female faculty and Female non –teaching staff are requested to make the best use of the programme to get answers to any health related queries.

• On the occasion of the Engineers week, Sahyadri Pupils Association of Civil Engineering (SPACE), Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, will be organizing a technical talk on "Concrete Technology - Evolution to Revolution" which will be addressed by Er.Anil Baliga & another technical session on "Compressing Time-Ways and Means" by Er. Arun Prabha.
