Technical Talk during Engineer’s WeekTechnical Talk during Engineer’s Week On the occasion of the Engineer’s Week, Sahyadri Pupils Association of Civil Engineering (SPACE), Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers organized a technical talk on “Compressing Time-Ways and Means” by Er. Arun Prabha and another on “Concrete Technology - Evolution to Revolution” by Er. Anil Baliga.

Er. Arun Pabha in his talk emphasised mainly on “Time”. Time is the single factor available for an engineer. He has 35 years of experience in construction industry, from which he shares that - the cost overruns in various projects is due to lot of time spent on in-situ construction and, if this factor is properly planned and executed then it will definitely avoid cost overrun. He also threw light on “Sequential Vs Parallel Techniques in Construction”. He concluded his talk with a key note that “Quality is about Managing Expectations”.

Er. Anil Baliga in his technical talk emphasised on importance of civil engineers for a developing country like India. Civil engineers are the makers and also the rulers. As a civil engineer it is our duty to respect our mother earth and try to lead a sustainable construction industry.

Achievement of First year Engineering students at NIT Kurukshethra

Achievement of First year Engineering students at NIT Kurukshethra National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra) is a public engineering institute located in Kurukshetra. Techspardha is the annual techno-managerial festival of National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra held every year during spring.

Team Magneton, a team comprising of 15 students from first year engineering participated in Techspardha in RC Bot Race and won Runners in that event.

Special Awareness Programme on Health and Fitness exclusively for Women at Sahyadri

Special Awareness Programme on Health Department of Academics and NSS unit of Sahyadri organized a special programme for all the female teaching and non-teaching staff on Health and Fitness. Dr. Anasuya Devi, Chief Medical Practitioner at Dattam Ayurdham was invited as the resource person to address and interact with the audience. The Doctor shared valuable tips about healthy food habits and fitness. Before concluding a Q&A session was arranged so that the participants could clear their doubts relating to health and hygiene, reproductive health and daily food habits. The session was interactive & valuable information was shared with respect to general health issues, different types of disorders/ disease, the reasons behind such occurrence & the remedial measures.

NSS Volunteers attend Insignia -2018

NSS Volunteers attend Insignia -2018 First year Engineering students and NSS Volunteers attended “Insignia -2018,” - a student development workshop organized by Centre for Integrate Learning (CIL) in association with Mangalore Lions Club at Mallikatte Lions Club Building. The workshop was conducted on the theme of “Socio-Political Consciousness among Youth”. The Workshop was inaugurated by Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, Mr. Bhaskar K in the presence of Mangalore Lions Club President, Mr. Venkatesh Baliga and other dignitaries. The workshop involved seminars, group discussion and panel discussion.

MBA Faculty attend Management Conclave in Bengaluru


MBA Faculty attend Management Conclave in Bengaluru Dr. Vishal Samartha, Prof. Ramesh K G and Prof. Girish M from the Department of Business Administration attended the Management Conclave on “Fostering Quality Teaching in Higher Education” conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) at Taj West End, Bengaluru. The Management Conclave created a platform for MBA, PGDM and MCA educators and decision makers at B-schools and universities that bring the best minds from India and abroad to discuss the issues faced by these colleges and also about opportunity areas to improve, enhance and collaborate.

Mr. Amit Agnihotri, CEO, MBAuniverse.com talked about how international accreditations are becoming important in the current trend. He also stressed that education is going to be more personalized and with flexible delivery model. Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai spoke about the importance of setting up of labs like Bloomberg Labs which improves the employability of students. Dr. Aditya Jadhav, Chairperson, Admissions, TAPMI, Manipal, spoke about the graduate attributes like Transformational Leadership, Flexible and Open, Value Bound and Communication to be nurtured. He also stressed the importance of students working on consulting projects by solving issues of organisations. Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Trichy informed the way IIM Trichy has evolved over the years. He also spoke of the steps taken to make IIM Trichy the best IIM in the country. He said that he had worked with AICTE and NHRD to build a model curriculum for the MBA’s. Dr. Akhilesh, Senior Professor, IISC, Bengaluru said that Knowledge and Skills are what is to be acquired but action in order to acquire those is very important. Dr. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, South Western Regional Committee, AICTE, spoke about the reforms AICTE is bringing into the education system. The Conclave was attended by the Directors, Principals, HOD’s and faculty members from different parts of Karnataka.
