VTU results of Fifth Semester - Mechanical Engineering are declared. Out of 208 students who appeared for the VTU Examination, 153 students have passed.

Campus Recruitment Drive - Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited

A Two-Day Recruitment drive was conducted by Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited for the Engineering students from all branches of 2019 outgoing batch. Mr. Munama Sriharsha, Zonal HR Manager accompanied by Mr. Sandeep U, Channel Development Manager were at the campus to facilitate the process. A total of 128 students from various colleges participated in the drive.

Faculty presents Research Paper at ISMAV-CVB 2019

Prof. Ganaraj K, Dept. of Information Science and Engineering, presented a Paper “Efficient Gesture based Language Recognition using SVM and Lloyd’s Algorithm” at the International Conference on IoT, Social, Mobile, Analytics And Cloud In Computational Vision And Bio-Engineering (ISMAC – CVB) 2019 Sponsored by Springer held at Vivekanandha College of Technology for Women, Elayampalayam, Tamilnadu. The session was chaired by Dr. M. Duraipandian, Professor and Head, Department of CSE, Vivekanandha College of Technology for Women, Elayampalayam, Tamilnadu.

The paper was co-authored by Prof. Asha B Shetty, Prof. Jayapadmini Kanchan, Prof. Madhura N Hegde and Prof. Rajatha of Information Science and Engineering department.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Prof. Rathishchandra R Gatti, is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and as a Researcher in Karnataka Government Research Centre in Sahyadri since 2015. He received B.E from NITK Surathkal and Ph.D from Curtin University, Perth, Australia in 2002 and 2014 respectively. His management degrees include MBA from IGNOU Delhi, Post graduate diploma in Global strategic Management from ICFAI, Six Sigma Greenbelt from General Electric, USA and Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialization from Curtin University, Australia. After his graduation, he has worked in the field of automotive R&D and design at Arvin Meritor, SVI and Rapsri. He also served as a NPI program manager at General Electric Industrial in R&D programs related to North American power distribution products. His PhD was in the area of electromagnetic vibration energy harvesting at Curtin University, Australia. He is a recognized reviewer of Elsevier Journal of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing and other journals. He currently has 1 US Patent, 1 Canadian patent, 1 Mexican patent and 11 international publication. His hobbies include Comics & Manga/Anime, designing stuff, digital painting, hiking and riding bikes.

• Rajath is from Mangaluru and pursued his high school from Rosario High school, Mangaluru and PUC from Sharada PU College. He aspires to be an automobile engineer. His hobbies include playing cricket, reading news articles and watching movies. He participated in a tech fest at IIT Gandhinagar.
• Jayapreeth is from Managaluru and pursued his high school from St. Aloysius High School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. He plays cricket and enjoys swimming during his free time. He participated in Inter-collegiate athletics meet. He desires to be a successful mechanical engineer.
• Nikhil shetty is from Kundapur and pursued his high school from SR Public school, Hebri and PUC from SR PU College, Hebri. His hobbies are travelling, playing outdoors and indoor games. He has participated in IIT Chandigarh tech fest. He aspires to be a wrestler and Designer.
• Bhavan hails from Mudipu. He did his schooling from Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Mudipu and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College. He is interested in games, swimming and reading novels. He has participated in district level Chess competition, tech fests at IIT Mandi and NIT Hamirpur. He wants to be a design engineer.
• Vineeth Sanjeevan Poojari is from Brahmavar and pursued his high school from SMS English medium High school, Brahmavara and SMS PU College, Brahmavara. His interests include reading and games. He aspires to be a scientist.
• Midhun P is from Kasargod. He pursued his high school from at Government High school, Munnad and Government Higher secondary school, Kasargod, Kerala. His interests include Reading books and travelling. He aspires to be a mechanical designer.
• Abhinav Pradeep is from Kannur and pursued his high school from Bharatiya vidya bhavan, Kannur and Chovva higher secondary school, Kannur, Kerala. Abhinav is interested in music, art and designing. He aspires to be a successful mechanical engineer.

Introduction of the Mentor:
Harisha has completed his M.Tech from Indian institute of information Technology Allahabad with specialization in wireless communication and Computing, B.E from Sahyadri and Diploma in CSE from NRAMP Nitte. Currently, He is pursuing his Ph.D from VTU in the area of Machine Learning. His area of Interest is Cybersecurity and Machine learning. Harisha has authored various research articles and has delivered guest lectures at various institutes. He has also guided many B.E. and M.Tech Projects. He is associated with Sahyadri for the last 9 Years.
Introduction of the Mentees:
• Akashdeep likes to code and loves to work on Open Source Software Projects. His hobbies are Football, Programming and Travelling. He has done his Schooling in KV, Mangaluru. He is awarded the Rajya-Puraskar Scout, Regional Football Player in school level and Mozilla CC Technical Head, Community Lead at SOSC, GitHub Campus Expert, Android and AOG Lead at DSC in college level. He has completed his Internships in CyberTeam. His Professional Goal is to join Indian Navy and Personal Goal is to contribute to OSS-Open-source software.
• K S Manjusha is from Kumta, Uttara kannada. She completed her schooling from 1st to 10th in Pragati Vidyalaya English Medium School, Muroor. She studied PUC in Saraswati PU College, Kumta. Her hobbies are cooking, reading books and coding. She has won prizes in quiz competition during primary and high school. She aims to get placed in a renowned company and become a software developer.
• Rounak Saha is from Kolkata, West Bengal. He completed his class 10th from St. Xavier’s School, Raganj of Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal which is affiliated to an ICSE board and 12th from National English school, Kolkata belonging to an ISC board. His hobbies include web developing, coding, playing synthesizer, travelling and listening to music. He won many prizes in debate, sports and musical instrument competitions in his school days. He has also represented his school in state level National Children’s Science Congress in his class 9th. He has also participated in TECHNORION which is an annual technical fest of IIT BOMBAY. His professional aim is to set up a school for underprivileged students and be their mentor.
• Thejas Kumar is from Vittla. He completed his schooling from 1 to 8th in Govt. higher primary school Kodangai and from 9th to 12th in Vittal Pre University college Vittla. His hobbies are playing Kabaddi, cricket, football, listening to music, watching movies and travelling. He has won many prizes in school, Taluq, District level Kabaddi tournaments. Other than that he has won third prize in SIP (Social Innovation Project) during the academic year 2017-18. He has also participated in EXODIA 2K18 in IIT Mandi and NIMBUS 2K18 in NIT Hamirpur and won many prizes in the event. His goal is to have a well paid job in Google and look after his parents.
• Ebrahim Mohammed is from Mangaluru. He completed his schooling from 1st to 12th in International Indian School, Riyadh. His hobbies include photography, editing, playing football and pc/mobile games. He has won prizes in Basketball and Football in school level. He has participated in a event at NIT Warangal. His goal is to have a well paid job and look after his parents.
• Praveen Honavar is from Karwar. He completed his schooling from 1st to 10th in Marthoma English Medium School, Honavar and PUC in SDM PU College. His hobbies include Sketching and photography. He has visited IIT BHU (Varanasi) and participated in Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019. He aspires to work in a renowned organization.
• Tejaswini BM is from Chikmagalur. She did her 1 to 7th standard in Government primary school in chikmagalur and 8th to 10th in St. Martha’s high school and she completed her PUC in St. Martha’s PU college chikmagalur. Her hobbies are travelling, cooking, listening to music and watching movies. She has secured first place in quiz competition at taluk level in her primary school and she has won prizes in taluk level ThrowBall tournaments. She aims to be placed in Google.
