Seventy Two Sahyadrians recruited by Silver Peak Global (SPG) Japan Seventy Two Sahyadrians from the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have been selected by Silver Peak Global, in the recently held campus recruitment drive for the 2019 outgoing batch. The package offered is Rs. 23 Lakhs per annum.

Reliance Digital for MBAs Reliance Digital for MBAs Ms. Sushma Dalabanjan, HR; Mr. Ritesh Alimar, Cluster Manager; Mr. Harish Gowda and Mr. Amith Kumar, the Store Managers of Reliance Digital had conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive for the post of ‘Department Manager in Training’ for the MBAs of 2019 outgoing batch. On completing Group Discussion Round, Aptitude Round and Personal Interview, a total of 7 students have been shortlisted for the Final Round of interview with the Regional Manager Operations & HR scheduled during the next week.

TCS Techbytes organized at Sahyadri

Reliance Digital for MBAs Reliance Digital for MBAs TCS Techbytes, a Regional level IT Quiz Prelims and final was held at Sahyadri. A total of 20 Colleges from Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan with around 394 students took part in the event. Top 6 Teams were shortlisted for the final round out of which NITK Surathkal comprising of Hrishikesh Thakkar and Pratyush Prakash secured the First Place and Rajath Ballal and Shobith J B From KVG College of Engineering Sullia were the Runners-up. The event happened in the presence of Ms. Shoba Murthy, TCS coordinator; Mr. Loyd Saldhana, the Quiz Master; Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal; Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal; Dr. J V Gorabal, Head of Computer Science & Engineering Dept and Prof. Shailesh Shetty, TCS Sahyadri coordinator.

Orientation Session by Byju's for the Engineering Students

Orientation Session by Byju's for the Engineering Students Mr. Saikiran, Co-Founder of BYJU's (Think & Learn Pvt Ltd.) visited Sahyadri to address and interact with the sixth semester (3rd year) students of all branches. This session helped the students to understand various Career Avenues in India and Abroad and the rigorous selection criteria involved. It gave them insights into the relevant steps required to prepare for GRE/CAT/GMAT/UPSC/GATE and also on entering into the world of International Education.
The counselling team - Mr. Swaroop, Ms. Swathi Raj, Mr. Mohit and Mr. Souptik from Byju's conducted a follow up session for all the interested students.

Alumnus of Electronics & Communication Engineering interacts with the students Mr. Rajath Kumar Kodoth, an Alumnus of Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering (Passed out in 2017-18) shared his experience with the pre-final year students. He is currently working as an Associate Trainee in Data Science at AltraSys Technologies. As he liked Mathematics and was good at it, Rajath always preferred to get into a profile of a Data Scientist. While speaking to the students, he encouraged them on learning Python programming language since Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are booming these days. He said it was the best career option one should opt for. As a concluding remark, he asserted that students should maintain a good aggregate in engineering and also enjoy their college life.

Mechanical Engineering faculty presents a Paper at the All India Seminar on Electric vehicles Prof. Ravichandra Rangappa, Associate Professor and Head - Dept of Mechanical Engineering, presented a Paper titled - “Energy storage system and charging structure for electrification” at the All India Seminar on “Electric vehicles: Prospects and Challenges” held at Dharwad. The programme was organized by The Institute of Engineers in association with the Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SDM College of Engineering and Technology Dharwad. The paper was co-authored by Prof. Rathishchandra Gatti, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru and Prof. Raghavendra CG, MSRIT Bengaluru. The programme saw over 200 participants from various academic institutions.

Dr. S Seetharamu selected as AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor for Sahyadri

Dr. S Seetharamu selected as AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor for Sahyadri Dr. S Seetharamu, currently Technical Advisor for National Design Research Forum and Formerly Director of Central Power Research Institute-Bangalore, has been selected as AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor for Sahyadri, under the subject scheme, for a period of one year starting from Jun 1, 2019 up to May 31, 2020 which is extendable up to 5 years as industry expert. The grant proposal was initiated from Department of Mechanical Engineering by Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti.

• Dr. S. Seetharamu received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science in 1982 after obtaining M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from IISc in 1976 and B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University in 1974.
• Dr. S. Seetharamu joined CPRI in 1985 after serving in L&T and Best and Crompton Engg, retired as Director of CPRI in June 2015.
• He has also served as a Faculty at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan.
• Dr. S. Seetharamu is a leading Scientist of Central Power Research Institute, which is contributing towards the development of Electrical Industry in India.
• Last four decades of applied R&D has resulted in the building of laboratories and field Engineering schemes (materials technology, thermal research and energy), sponsored research and consultancy programs, peer reviewed publications, spread of education, conduct of International conferences, custom specific training programs, IPR, technology evolution involving scaling up, demonstration, quality assurance and industry-acceptance.
• These moves have also resulted in a large no of undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral projects, benefitting the students from CPRI, IISc, Bangalore University, IITs, NITs and VTU.
• He is also a Chartered Engineer, has received many awards and holder of many patents & member of professional bodies.
• Recently, Dr. S Seetharamu was involved as the advisor for the Indo-Danish DST-IFD proposal on Ocean wave energy converters that was recently presented at DST office by Principal Investigator Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti and Director Research Dr. S Manjappa.
• He is currently involved with CPRI research proposals with the mechanical engineering team.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute as whole welcomes Dr. Seetharamu to share his expertise, knowledge and experience. The department is planning to organize technical talks and other related activities especially to benefit the students and faculty of the institute and neighboring colleges of Mangalore-Udupi region.

Introduction of the Mentor

Dr. Shamanth Rai is currently working as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He has pursued his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad in the area of Wireless Networks. He has received grant from Department of Science & Technology (DST) to participate in HPGC Summer School Russia and also travel grant from Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) to present Conference Paper in NTU, Singapore. He serves as a reviewer of journals of IEEE, Elsevier and Springer. He served as TPC member for various reputed conferences. He has published four research articles in SCI journals, authored a book chapter in Taylor and Francis and presented paper in IEEE conferences. He is a life member of ISTE and also a member of IEEE.

Introduction of the Mentees:
• Prathiksha Shetty is from Surathkal. She pursued her high school from Holy Family English Medium School, Surathkal and PUC from Sharadha PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are singing and playing flute. She participated in NIT Khurukshetra, TECHSPARDHA-ROBORACE. She aspires to become a software engineer.
• Anam Parvez hails from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from St. Marys High School, Mangaluru and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College. Her hobbies are drawing and painting. She has participated in Tryst 2018 held at IIT Delhi. She aspires to become a software developer.
• Drithin C. Shetty pursued his high school from Delhi Public School, MRPL and PUC from Sharadha PU College. His hobbies are photography and video editing. He aspires to become a good programmer.
• Lizel Lasrado hails from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School and PUC from St. Agnes PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are drawing, listening to music and cooking. She aspires to become a software developer.
• Sahana M. hails from Mangaluru. She pursued her high school from St. Mary’s High School and PUC from St. Agnes PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are singing, acting and dancing. She has secured first place in state level mono-acting competition held in Mangaluru, silver medal in Math’s Olympiad. She aspires to become an IAS officer.
• Shreyan Apposa hails from Karkala. He pursued his high school from Sri Bhuvanendra High School and PUC from Dr. NSAM PU College, Nitte. His hobbies are travelling, listening to music, photography and car rallies. He participated in IIT Bhubaneshwar, Odhisha. He secured 3rd place in VTU Hockey Tournament - 2018. He is an active member of Mech-tech Garage. He aspires to become a good programmer and excel all skills.
• Umadevi hails from Udupi. She pursued her high school from Junior Govt High School for Girls, and PUC from Govt PU College for Girls, Udupi. Her hobbies are singing and dancing. She participated in Docker Workshop held in the institute. She aspires to become a good programmer.
