Team Challengers International Competition updates

Team Challengers International Competition updates Team Challengers of Sahyadri are participating in the international level competition named "SAE International Aeromodelling 2019". This is a 3-day event held in the city of Fort Worth, North Central Texas.

Students from the First Year, Ashritha Rai, Joel Joseph, Blaren D’Silva, Basil Baiju and from the Second Year, Shahid Hussain are the participants in this prestigious event. This is the finest aeromodelling event of the year.
Mr. Manjunatha Bhandary, Chairman, who is on a visit, accompanied the students to this event.

Civil Engineering students on a site visit

Civil Engineering students on a site visit  Students in the Fourth Semester of Civil Engineering visited Ready Mix Concrete Plant, PRISM RMC located in Baikampady Industrial Area, Mangaluru. PRISM RMC is one of the bulk manufacturers of Ready Mix concrete in Mangaluru. Mr. Chethan L. Pujara, Manager of Prism RMC addressed the students regarding the various aspects involved in RMC. Mr. Shivaprasad, Quality Control Engineer, accompanied the students and faculties, and explained about the know-how of RMC. Students were also taken around the plant and the laboratories and the different test on fresh and hardened state of concrete conducted were explained.

Prof. Hemanth Prabhu, Prof. Geetha S.D. and Prof. Deepthishree S.A. from the Department of Civil Engineering coordinated the visit.

IoT & Embedded System Exhibition at Sahyadri

IoT & Embedded System Exhibition at Sahyadri IoT & Embedded System Exhibition at Sahyadri As a part of Industry and Academic Interaction, a One-day exhibition on IoT & Embedded Systems was jointly conducted by Department of Electronics & Communication and RDL Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The exhibition witnessed the active participation of more than 30+ batches of pre-final year engineering students. The students demonstrated the products at the exhibition. The first year students utilized their time in knowing the technical details and understanding the various applications of IoT and Embedded Systems in real life. The three segments of products displayed at the event were Industrial Sensors, Development and Prototyping.

Motive of the exhibition was to create awareness among students about recent ongoing research, issues and challenges faced by industry and solutions for the same. Third Year students familiarized themselves with the various industrial products and solutions along with the driving technology to further transfer the knowledge gained by them to the next generation of students. The students were motivated to involve in industry-academic research activities. This would help bring out budding entrepreneurial talents to the foreground during their next three years of engineering. More than 700 students participated in the event. RDL Technologies made full-fledged arrangement by providing their sensors, development boards, and products.

The event was coordinated by the faculty members of Department of Electronics & Communication.

Mentor-Mentee System at Sahyadri Introduction of Mentor:
Mr. Janardhana D.R. is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science & Engineering. He has pursued B.E and M.Tech from VTU, Belagavi. He is having a total of 11 years teaching experience. His area of interest includes Network Security, IoT, Big Data and Machine Learning. He has published various research articles in international journals and at conferences. He is a life member of ISTE and CSI.

Mentees Details:
• Lipika is from Mangaluru. She has completed her SSLC from Holy Spirit English Medium School and PUC from Govinda Dasa PU College, Mangaluru. Her hobbies are drawing, painting and gardening. She aspires to achieve something big in the field of engineering.
• Projwel P.V. is from Kannur, Kerala. He has completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kannur and PUC from Green Hill Public School, Kannur. His hobbies are riding, playing football and gaming. He aspires to pursue masters’ abroad.
• Mr. Sumanth Rai is from Mangaluru. He has completed his schooling from Cascia High School and PUC from Brilliant PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are collecting stamps, drawing and reading books. He wants to join a reputed core company as a software engineer.
• Ms. Aishwarya is from Udupi. She has completed her schooling from Viveka Girls High School and PUC from Viveka PU College, Kota, Udupi. Her hobbies are dancing. She aspires to become a successful engineer.
• Ms. Varshini B.A. is from Bantwal. She has completed her schooling from SVS English Medium School and PUC from St. Agnes PU College, Bantwal. Her hobbies are painting, drawing and listening to music. She aspires to become a successful engineer in a core company.
• Mr. Sandesh is from Mangaluru. He has completed his schooling from Burooj School and PUC from Sacred Heart, Mangaluru. His hobbies are playing football. He aspires to become a software engineer.
