Sahyadrian Recruited by Jaro Education

jaro-recruited Mr. Tajasvi Balegar from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering was recruited by Jaro Education. He was shortlisted in the Recruitment Drive held on 22nd March’2020. The final interview was held in Bangalore on 6th March’2020 for the shortlisted candidates.
Mr. Balegar was selected for the position of Graduate Trainee with a package of Rs. 6.60 Lakhs per annum.

Six LLPs at the Grand Finale of Elevate Call2 in Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru

Six-LLPs Six-LLPs A total of 6 Start-Ups of Sahyadri, are at Lalit Ashok Hotel, Bengaluru, during 9th to 10th March'2020, pitching their product/service/solution for Seed funding at the Elevate Call2 (YR2019-20). During the first day, a Two-Member team of each start-up presented their pitch deck to the jury. A total of 320 teams (Finalists) from the whole of Karnataka were at the Elevate2 event pitching their ideas for funding from the Karnataka Start-Up Cell, Govt. Of Karnataka.
Sahyadri Team also met and interacted with Dr. Sandhya R Anvekar, Program Head-Skilling, Govt. of Karnataka. Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman and Dr. Manjappa Sarathi, Director-R&D also attended the event to motivate the Sahyadri Team.

Mechanical Engineering Dept. Receives Student Project Grants from KSCST, Government of Karnataka

Mechanical Engineering Dept. has bagged 12 Student Projects Grants from KSCST, Govt. of Karnataka, including one Inter-disciplinary Project between Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering Depts. Every year Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) conducts the Student Project Programme (SPP) for providing financial and academic support to the Final Year students of B.E, M.Tech, M.Sc and MBA in Karnataka state.

This Programme was started by KSCST during 1977-78. From 1977-78 to 2018-2019 about 10,300 projects at a total cost of more than Rs. 5.5 Crores have been funded to various educational institutions located in Karnataka. Student projects sponsored by KSCST through this programme have been recognized by many industries and helped the students to seek employment.
This year’s programme is the 43rd in a series of SPP organized by KSCST. In this 43rd Series of SPP, 37 student projects from 5 branches of engineering and one from Business Administration-MBA, have been approved for sponsorship - the highest number of sponsorships received by any college in Karnataka.

A Get-together was organised to celebrate the NBA Accreditation of UG Programs at Sahyadri

nba-meet Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management recently added one more Feather to its Cap by obtaining accreditation of five UG Programs by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi for a period of 3 years (2020-2023).
Diligence and patience always pays fruit. Though it takes time and effort, it brings positive results. NBA Accreditation of the UG Programs is a celebration moment.
Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kunte, Principal welcomed the gathering with the same spirit of joy. He congratulated everyone and encouraged them to work with the same fervor in future too, to achieve significant milestones.
Post this, several faculties walked up to the stage and shared their experiences criteria-wise, with the gathering.
Prof. Manohar K from Civil Engineering Dept. and Prof. Ramakrishna of the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering spoke from their criteria point of view sharing their views.
From the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, Dr. Pushpalatha; and similarly Prof Smitha from the Dept. of Civil Engineering shared their views. They said lot of suggestions were given by NBA Team which had to be implemented for the betterment of the NBA process, and suggestions received for improving the framing of CIE questions. Prof. S.S. Balakrishna, Vice-principal and Dean-Academics also addressed the gathering.
The HoDs’ also took their turn in expressing their views. Dr. Nalini Rebello, Civil Engineering, Dr. Ashwath, Electronics & Communication and Dr. J V Gorbal, Computer Science & Engineering shared their experiences. It is a very overwhelming moment - they unanimously agreed - when everyone has to show their hard work before the committee members.
Finally, Mr. Manjuanth Bhandary, Chairman expressed his happiness and congratulated the gathering. He called upon all to work harder and do much better in the future for the enhancement of the institution by upgrading with the current trend. The programme was followed by a sumptuous Lunch. Prof. Jyothi, from the Physics Cycle, facilitated the programme.

Mechanical Engineering Students achieve at National Event, The Indian Karting Championship (IKC), Season-4 held at Mohites Racing Academy, Kolhapur, Maharashtra

ikc ikc Two teams of Sahyadri Motorsports viz. Honey Badger (Go-Kart), led by Mahim Monteiro, 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering; and Black Lightning (E-Kart), led by K Rakeeb Hussain, 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering, mentored by Ashwith Mendonca, Head-Launchpad, took part in the National event held at Mohites Racing Academy, Kolhapur, Maharashtra during 6th to 9th March’2020.
Around 200 teams from various colleges across the country participated in this National event.
Team Black Lightning of Sahyadri, led by K Rakeeb Hussain (Captain and Driver) and Neeraj Kumar (Vice captain), both of whom are 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering students, along with 19 team members, secured the first place in the Endurance Race in the Electric category and also emerged as the Champions of Indian Karting Championship Season 4 in the Electric Category.
The Indian Karting Championship (IKC) is an Inter-collegiate Engineering Design competition for Undergraduate and Graduate Engineering students. The objective of the competition is to implement good engineering practices, design projects and their related research work.

Sahyadri Toastmasters Club conducts an Open House Meeting

toastmaster toastmaster Sahyadri Toastmasters Club conducted an Open House on 9th March’2020. The programme revolved around display of what happens in an actual Toastmasters meeting. It had over 200 interested students as audience who thoroughly enjoyed and understood the importance of communication skills.
toastmaster Guests for the session included various veteran Toastmasters from in and around Mangaluru. DTM Savitha Salian (District Administration Manager), DTM Shivani Baliga (Division F Director), and TM Sukanya Rao (Area F3 Director), were some of the members who were included. Toastmasters International is a US-headquartered nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication, and public speaking and leadership skills. Sahyadri Toastmasters has been in motion since 2018.

Campus Recruitment Drive - EOX Vantage

exo-vantage EOX Vantage conducted a Pool Campus Recruitment Drive on 9th March 2020, for the Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering students of 2020 outgoing batch. The process began with a Pre-placement Talk followed by an Online Test & Personal Interview. A total of 195 students from pool colleges participated in the Drive. Out of these, two students from Sahyadri were selected.

Introduction of the Mentor:

Dr. Sharan Shetty is associated with the Dept. of Business Administration-MBA as a Professor of International Finance & Banking. He is the Financial Advisor of “Sahyadri Capital Advisors LLP” the very first start-up in the Dept. of Business Administration. He has done his MBA in Financial Management from Justice K.S Hegde Institute of Management – Nitte, and Ph.D in Banking & Finance from BMS College of Engineering, affiliated to VTU, Belagavi and Bachelor of Commerce from Mangalore University.
Dr. Shetty is a great Orator, Writer, Researcher, Author, Motivator, Public Speaker and Swimmer. He has 26 conference publications and 07 journal publications to his credit, in the field of Management Education. His research interests are Financial Inclusion and Innovation with sustainability, Learning, Leadership and Motivation. He has a passion for transforming the young minds into the best quality products.

Nagarjun M H is from Kundapura. He is a B.Com Graduate from Poornaprajna College, Udupi. He has participated and organized many college level fests. He has a passion for travelling especially, biking. He wishes to pursue Ph.D in Management.
Sagar S Nayak is from Manipal. He pursued his PUC and Degree in MGM College, Udupi. He is interested in travelling and adventurous activities. He also likes to collect foreign currencies. He aspires to be a Navy Officer.
Yashaswini Shetty is from Mumbai. She pursued her Bachelors in Mass Media and specialized in Advertising. She is a friendly and a forthcoming person. She loves animals, particularly dogs. A vehement foodie, she loves tasting new cuisine. She is a dancer. She loves playing Badminton and is also an Athlete. She aspires to be an Entrepreneur.
