ELEVATE 2019 at Sahyadri

Elevate 2019 is a Technical Fest for innovative start-ups. This event was initiated with a purpose of encouraging more number of start-ups of social impact. At Sahyadri, Elevate 2019 began with a session to MBAs from Mr. Uday Birji, the Jury Member of the programme. He spoke about the importance of technology and start-up in the present business scenario. He also threw light on how the world is moving towards AI & Machine Learning.

A total of 27 teams took part in Elevate 2019 from the major 4 districts Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, and Chikmangalur. Out of the total teams, 10 Start-ups were from Sahyadri who participated in the pitching.

In 2017, Elevate was launched with 101 winners with the recommendation of Idea2POC, out of which 87 teams got grants and rest got non-grant support.

In Elevate 2017 - Call 2 was based on AVGC, Agriculture, Tourism and Kannada & Culture. Out of 368 teams, 57 teams got selected in which 43 start-ups got funding. Elevate 2018 the Idea2PoC Evaluation Committee recommended 77 Start-ups for grant from 598 applications.

Sahyadrians Recruited by Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS)

Mr. Akash Gupta, Mr. Shivaraj, Mr. Akshaya, Mr. Rakshan C Naik and Mr. Sudesh N Acharya from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering have been recruited by SIMS for the position of Graduate Marine Engineering (GME), with a package of Rs. 13.5 Lakhs per annum, in the recently held Campus Recruitment drive for the 2019 outgoing batch.

Workshop on HR Analytics organized for the MBA-HR Students

Prof. Sushma V, Dept. of Business Administration facilitated a workshop on “HR Analytics” for the MBA-HR students. Sushma was deputed by Sahyadri for a “Short Term Course on HR Analytics” at IIT, Kharagpur and she recently trained a batch at JKSHIM, Nitte on the same topic.

Sahyadri organizes Pot Compost Demonstration for teaching and non-teaching faculty

Sahyadri in association with Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru organized a One-Day Pot Compost demonstration for the Teaching and Non-teaching faculty. Mr. Sachin Shetty, Chief Coordinator, Ramakrishna Mission, Swacchatha Sampark Abhiyan and Mr. Umanath Kotekar, Chief Coordinator, Ramakrishna Mission, Swaccha Mangaluru Abhiyan along with the volunteers Mr. Nithesh, Mr. Balakrishna Nayak and Mr. Prasanth Uppinangady demonstrated the method of using Pot compost for solid waste management. The programme was organized with an objective to provide basic idea about the process of pot composting house hold waste. Faculty took interest in the process of pot compost and many have booked the pots for composting which will be supplied by Ramakrishna Mission.

He completed his Diploma in Electronics & Communication from Vivekananda Polytechnic, Puttur. His hobbies are dancing and listening to music. His aspiration is to become a successful engineer and procure a job in a reputed company.
• Reyan Vinson Crasta is from Mangaluru. He pursued his schooling from Holy Family English Medium School, and PUC from St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru. His hobbies are coin collecting, singing and listening to music. He aspires to become a successful engineer and work in a reputed company
