MBA Alumnus awarded “Above & Beyond Award” at KPMG GDC, Bengaluru

Mr. Achutha Shenoy K, Quality Lead at KPMG GDC, an alumnus of Dept. of Business Administration-MBA (2014-16 batch) has been awarded the “Above & Beyond Award” at the Q1 FY 18-19 Rewards & Recognition ceremony held at KPMG GDC, Bengaluru.

It is recognized for rendering the best of services to the US Onshore team and meeting the deadlines of the audit work received.

Faculty members from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering completed NPTEL Certification

Eleven faculty members from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering have successfully completed NPTEL certification courses.

• Certification course on “CMOS Digital VLSI Design” has been completed by Dr. Ashwath Rao, Prof. Megha N, Prof. Sunil Kumar P, Prof. Smitha and Prof. Shruthi Shetty. This NPTEL FDP course of 08 weeks brings circuit and system level views on design on the same platform. The course has been mentored by Prof. Sudeb Dasgupta, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, IIT Roorkee.

• Certification course on “Digital Image Processing” has been completed by Prof. Roopashree and Prof. Sikha K V. This NPTEL FDP course of 12 weeks mentored by Prof. P K Biswas, IIT Kharagpur introduced various image processing techniques, algorithms and their applications.

• Prof. Gurusiddayya Hiremath has completed "Introduction to Machine Learning" NPTEL FDP course of 08 weeks mentored by Prof. Sudeshna Sarkar, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. This course provided a broad introduction to machine learning including statistical learning methods and basic notions on machine learning, various issues and different supervised learning algorithms and a basic introduction to unsupervised learning.

• Prof. Pateel G P completed the NPTEL FDP Course on “Modern Digital Communication” of 12 weeks mentored by Prof. Suvra Sekhar Das, IIT Kharagpur. The course presented engineering principles, theories and practices, which are necessary for successful design of a digital communication system.


• Prof. Savidhan Shetty C S completed “Microwave Theory and Technique” NPTEL FDP course of 12 weeks mentored by Prof. Girish Kumar, IIT Bombay. The course focused on analysis, design and development of microwave circuits and systems.


• Prof. Kiran Kumar V G completed “Cryptography and Network Security” NPTEL FDP course of 08 weeks mentored by Prof. Sourav Mukhopadhyay, IIT Kharagpur. This course develops a basic understanding of the algorithms used to protect users online and to understand some of the design choices behind these algorithms.

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) was initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in various core disciplines. NPTEL began offering open online courses along with certificates from the IITs/IISc for those who completed the courses successfully. The objective of enabling faculty and students obtain certificates for courses is to make faculty deliver effectively the course content and make students employable in the industry or pursue a suitable higher education programme.

Prof. Shwetha is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She obtained her B.E degree from Srinivas Institute of technology and M.Tech degree from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. She also holds M.B.A degree from Sikkhim Manipal University. She has 2 years of teaching experience. IoT is her area of interest.

• Asmitha Nairy is from Udupi. She pursued her high school from Viveka English Medium High School and PUC from Viveka PU College, Kota. She aspires to start up an event management company.
• Sinchana hails from Udupi. She did her schooling in St. Cecily’s High School and PUC at St. Cecily’s composite PU College. Her hobbies include listening to music. She wants to be placed in a well reputed company.
• Fathima Mehnaz is from Puttur. She pursued her high school at Indraprastha Vidyalaya and PUC at St. Philomena PU College, Puttur. Her hobbies include painting, quilling, cooking and reading. She aspires to get into a company where her skills are recognized and which offers a good package.
• Sanjana Chandrashekar hails from Karwar. She pursued her high school from Balamandir and Diploma in Government Polytechnic (GPT), Karwar. Her hobbies include cooking and reading. She aspires to become software engineer.
• Pramod Kumar K. hails from Kasaragod. His hobbies include photography, driving travelling. He is always active. As a part of SIP project he had visited Kasargod paddy field and arecanut plantation. He has participated in technical workshop organized by IIT’s. He aspires to be placed in a company with highest package.
