Sahyadri Celebrates the 70th Independence Day

The 70th celebration of our Independence Day was observed with joy and pride by the staff and students of the Sahyadri college of Engineering & Management. Mr. Joy Devasia, Vice President & Center Head (Mangalore), Mphasis, an HP Company, the Chief Guest, hoisted the national flag after which the gathered students, faculty members and the staff sang the national anthem with pride in their hearts.

Mr. Devasia is working with Mphasis, an HP Company for almost 14 years with a total experience of 20 + years. He is responsible for Profit & Loss, Service delivery, Client relationship, Contract management, Business development and Site administration at the organization.

Mr. Devasia introduced the Student Council Members of the academic year 2016-17. Achievers in Sports and Culture were also felicitated on the occasion.

Mr. Aditya Gupta, CEO, India Didactics Association visits Sahyadri

Mr. Aditya Gupta, CEO, India Didactics Association visited the campus and appreciated the efforts of Sahyadri towards research, entrepreneurship and startups. During the visit he interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Principal Dr. U. M. Bhushi and addressed the faculty on the various tools and techniques available in teaching and learning pedagogy across the globe. He appreciated the teaching fraternity because of which renowned people have adorned various key positions across the world. Changing the mindset and willingness to use technology in classroom is vital in today’s technological age. He advised students to go beyond classroom teaching and develop innovative products which would cater to the needs of the society. He said technology is not the solution, it’s only a facilitator. Together, we can initiate a movement and make a difference. He also extended the invite to all the faculty members to be part of the DIDAC INDIA event to be held from the 28th to 30th September 2016 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. Mr. Anil Uppin, Additional Director (Vishwa), Department of Industries & Commerce (DIC) and Mr. Gokul Das Nayak, Joint Director, District Industries Centre visits Sahyadri

Sahyadri had the honour of receiving Mr. Anil A. Uppin, Additional Director(Vishwa), Department of Industries and Commerce(DIC), Mr. Gokul Das Nayak, Joint Director also the Deputy Director of DIC and Mr. Arvind Baleri in campus. They visited the premises and went into minute observations of work carried out in Dreamers DT lab, Sahyadri Aero Design and Hands on Experience laboratory. They appreciated the creativity and innovativeness of the students. Mr. Uppin highlighted various avenues of utilizing these innovations in organizations. He suggested varied personalities spanning all areas of Engineering and asked them to focus on agricultural sector which has an ardent need of technology implementation. He spelt areas of application in Aerospace and Defence. To be an Engineer one needs to develop the Engineering sense of looking at life and applying it on a day to day basis. They also visited the Centre of Nano science Technology. They highly appreciated the work done under Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt as an important service which is missed out by many institutes.

Dr. Saritha Arunkumar, Senior Scientist, IBM – UK visits Sahyadri

Dr. Saritha Arunkumar, Senior Scientist in IBM UK visited the campus and interacted with the Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, and also had an interactive session with the students and faculty members.

Dr. Saritha has nearly 16+ years of experience all being in IT Security space and has been working in wide span of roles such as Security Lead, Consultant, Specialist, Senior Architect and Subject Matter Expert – Security. She has been living in the UK for the last 11 years. She has gained deep expertise in Identity and Access Management solutions, Web Services security, and Public key Infrastructure, Cryptography and Mobile security. Most of the projects that she has been involved revolve around creating end-to-end security architectures, designs and security solutions.

Her vast experience with major banks, insurance firms, social security organizations, telecommunications, trading organizations, retail has made her a Subject Matter Expert in Tivoli and WebSphere suite of security products. She also has in-depth experience in defining end-to-end security architecture, high level and detail security designs and Infrastructure security solutions. She has also worked on a number of security assessment engagements, which involved assessing IBM WebSphere Application Server on AIX and Solaris systems.

Freshers Day at Sahyadri

The Freshers Day was celebrated at the campus with Mr. Chetan Krishnaswamy, Country Head- Public Policy of Google India as the chief guest. Mr. Karan Rao, Founder and Director, Giznu Tech and Mr. Sagar Modi , co-founder and CEO, QUIPH were also present during the occasion. Principal, Dr. U. M. Bhushi welcomed the gathering. Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary in his opening remarks stated that this is the day where we should take up goals, achieve them by doing our best and attain success in the coming years. He advised the students to take the Guests as role models. He said that ‘engineers are visionaries; they create jobs for others’. He also added that one needs to be enrolled in project based learning along with academics.

Mr. Chetan Krishnaswamy delivered his address and stated as to how Google looks at product development and also said that User privacy is of utmost importance to Google. It focuses more on light weight offline version of the product. He advised the new entrants to be extremely open, transparent as information flows from all the directions and also emphasized on being result oriented/outcome driven. He mentioned that having good writing and verbal skills is essential along with building one’s own strength. He concluded saying that one should be dynamically collaborative and have key attributes with essential abilities to face the challenges in the world outside.

Mr. Krishnaswamy also had an interactive session with the faculty members, where he discussed regarding the perspectives of development of Google and its focus areas. He also explained regarding the policy decisions. He emphasized on the role of companies in building technologically advanced futures.

Sahyadri gets Institutional Membership of NIPM

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management gets Institutional Membership of National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) for a period of 3 years. NIPM is a non-profit making body devoted to the development of skill and expertise of the professionals engaged in the management of human resources through regular lectures, meetings, seminars, training courses, conferences and publications in its chapters all over the country.

Chairman, Mr. Manjunath Bhandary met and interacted with the Hon’ble Shri. R. V. Deshpande, Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries, Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, India, in the presence of Shri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, representing Dakshina Kannada constituency.

Student secures 10/10 SGPA in University examination

Pankaj Kumar Rathi from the department of Computer Science & Engineering has secured 10/10 SGPA in the recently held 2nd semester University examinations. He scored S+ Grade in all the subjects. This is the first instance at Sahyadri wherein a student has secured maximum possible SGPA. The Management, Director, Principal, Vice Principal, Dean Academics, HOD’s, faculty members – both teaching & non-teaching and students have conveyed their best wishes for this outstanding achievement.

MBA/MCA/MTECH students Celebrate Graduation Day-2016

Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management celebrated the Graduation Day and conferred degrees to MBA/MCA/MTECH students at Sahyadri Campus. Mr. Ghanshyam Dass, Senior Advisor, KPMG was the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he shared his college day experiences and was nostalgic about the entire ceremony. He advised students to stay focused and committed towards their goal and be always rooted and in touch with their alma mater.


Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, in his introductory remarks said that, No institute is built by Infrastructure or faculty, instead it is built by the students. He mentioned that a student’s success and failure is attached to the college which plays a vital role in upholding the image of the institute. He advised the graduates to stand for values in which they have been trained. He concluded stating that the world is very competitive; hence it is very essential to upgrade continuously, which helps one to survive.

Sahyadrians recruited in Various Companies

Mr. Adarsh M, from the department of Civil Engineering has been recruited by ISRO Satellite Centre, ISAC Campus, Bangalore. His job profile involves technical support services for carrying out works related to planning and supervision of structural scheme for construction of buildings.

Amrutha P. from the department of Information Science Engineering has been selected by Robert Bosch Engineering & Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Aadil Hussain, second year MBA has been recruited for the position of Analyst with EY Global Delivery Services, Bangalore, India.

Ms. Sindura H, second year MBA student has been recruited by IBM India Private Limited as a Mobility Compensation Analyst.

Ms. Pooja from the department of Computer Science & Engineering who interned at TVS Motors now stands eligible to receive the pre-placement offer through the Utkarsh program based on the selection tests and BEI assessment in TVS Motor Company Ltd. She is one among the top 26 selected in the country.

Dr. U. M. Bhushi, Principal, authored a book “Project Planning and Control Management – Advanced Planning and Scheduling-Primavera” which has been published by Lambert Academic Publishing, co-authored by Mr. Ajay Deshmukh.
